Dirt Devil Power Reach Handheld Vacuum, M08245X

I wanted to use this to get pet hair off my couch. The big downfall is that it is not a belt driven power head. It instead relies on suction to spin the brush. When the brush touches fabric, it slows down to a crawl. They may as well take the brush out and just use the suction to pick up stuff. It arrived yesterday, and it's going back today.

They make it sound like having no belt to replace is a great feature, well the suction power is not powerful enough to keep the brush roll turning. I used it on my stairs and it would stop once it came in contact with the pile of carpet. It worked great in the car, if you only want it for the car then it would be great. If you want it to vacuum any type of normal carpet, don't buy it. I took it back!

I've had my Dirt Devil hand vac for at least 5 years now and the only reason why I'm replacing it is because my bunnies chewed through the cord. I use it to clean out my bunnies cages on a daily basis (fur, food, and litter) and also to clean my car. I love the fact that when I turn on the vac pet odors don't fill the air. I don't like how bulky the brush is, but have learned to deal and make the most out of it. Overall, I will continue to buy this vac for as long as it's available.

I like this handheld vac. It is light enough to hold and use in the car, or on the stairs. The power is sufficient to clean the carpeting on the stairs in my house, yet it is not so heavy or bulky that I have any trouble holding it.

I had the earlier bagged versions of the dirt devil hand vacuum, and they were great for stair cleaning. The brush barely rotates, if at all, on this model, and the suction is pathetic. The filter gets clogged very quickly and is an awful mess to clean. You have to bang it against the side of the trash can, and the dust goes everywhere. This vacuum is noisy but very weak. Don't waste your money.
