That dishwasher needed replacement (under extended warranty) & just received new one. Dishwasher racks, cutlery rack, etc. are grey plastic. Have run about 12 cycles & still stinks when you open the door. New racks (built cheaply obviously) are not as versatile. Bottom rack no longer adjustable: in old one, could fold down a few rows to accommodate larger pan. In the top rack, the higher rack (could hold small stuff like lids, etc.) has larger openings & things will fall through. After we installed it, it leaks at bottom of door when initially starts to fill. Waiting for service person to check it. Something obviously changed @ Danby in those 3 years. So far, seems to clean OK. The long & the short of it, if I were buying a new one, would check out other models to see if all cheap & junky inside now. Not a repeat customer for sure.

So many people have small households like mine and don't need the typical large dishwasher. This Danby dishwasher has performed great for the year I've had it and didn't change the look of my historic kitchen much. I believe it saves me water over hand-washing after every meal and keeps the sink clear of dishes.

We remodeled our kitchen and kept our existing cupboards. We did not have a dishwasher. Our space only allowed us to add a 18" dishwasher. The best compact dishwasher I could find was Danby that was priced reasonable. We have been very happy! No complaints. The quality is great. I would highly recommend this dishwasher.

I bought this Danby 18" dishwasher about six months ago and it's proven to be an excellent addition to our apartment. It fits perfectly in a small kitchen, is VERY quiet and I have no complaints about the way it washes the dishes. I will look for Danby products in the future.

There are few options for DWs that fit in small spaces. This one has all the features of larger models, including a mascerator that takes care of small particles left on dishes. Our previous GE did not have this feature and the strainers in the drain got clogged on a regular basis. Note, since we only run it once per day, we do rinse dishes before placing in DW. There is enough room for 8 place settings and the fold down separators on the bottom rack are very useful. Love the double washing arms, one for top rack and another for the lower rack. There has been no problem with soap build up like on our previous GE model. Actually it takes very little detergent to clean dishes, even on the "lowest" setting. The only reason I didn't rate 5 is that the lower rack leaves the track when extended all the way forward, but it is not difficult to push back. And, when using the settings that include heat drying it takes over an hour to finish. But that is true of larger models as well. Overall, after one year would recommend this product.
