My sister has the less expensive product without the hands free part of it. I went to get that version at walmart only to find they were out of stock. With a horible smelly spill in my guest room (beer), and guests coming in that night I purchased this model instead. Boy was I happy! I just plopped it down, and left it until it was done, then moved it once it started beeping. The whole room smelled clean after and besides the wet spot, there was no sign of the spill. I've tried it since other places and have been equally happy. I haven't tried it on anything crazy like red wine but, what do you expect without paying for a professional carpet cleaning service. Also I've never tried the other attachments, however with the hands free part alone, it was worth it to me. Only con is it really does go through the cleaning solution like crazy and does leaves a fairly wet spot. It's been a month since I used it and there is no sign of the stain still. However if your carpets are overall dirty, it might make that one spot so clean....the rest of your carpet will now look bad because of it. I would definately recommend it.
Bought the spotbot 6 month ago when I moved from a hardwood house to a rental with carpet. Three dogs mean accidents. Wasn't long before I was using it. I have given it a real work out and continue to use it often. The fact you can place it, hit a button and walk away is too good to be true, but it's TRUE! Occasionally the carpet will be wetter than I'd like, but a towel can soak up remaining moisture. Be careful how much cleaning agent you add, as it can leave a residue that attracts dirt. That's easily remedied with the spotbot. Love Love Love IT!
I have just purchased this item because my 2 yr old and have old juice stains, ketchup and God knows what else all over my carpet and I have my mother coming into town and want to make a good impression, so I purchased this item to "try" and get all my old and new stains out my brown carpet. I am happy to say it worked wonders. I was very leery in the beginning but am now pleasantly surprised. This is only my first day and have found my self cleaning everything. Next I'm going to try my back seat of my car where everything under the sun has been spilled. After the work on the carpet I have no doubt I will be pleased. FYI it does leave a circular pattern on the carpet but if you use the attachable brush it goes away!
This machine gets the stains out so I was happy with that. But it leaks horribly when putting the attatchment hoses away, so dirty water gets all over the area where you just cleaned. We also found that it leaks just where it sits. There is always a puddle on the garage floor where we keep it. I dont really think it works any better than any other carpet cleaner we've tried before, so I dont agree with the price. I also wish it were rechargeable instead having to be within range of how far the cord will go. But if you dont mind these things it does get bad stains out that dont come back.
I did a lot of research before buying this machine... needless to say, I am astounded that this has high reviews when how poorly it performs. I tried it on pet stains as well as a few (purposeful) soda spots. PROS: 1) Neat concept! "Set it and forget it..." comes to mind. 2) Sturdy construction, this unit seems like it should last awhile. 3) Easy to clean. CONS: 1) The suction is poor. It sucks up roughly 30% of the liquid it dispenses in my two-dozen tests. 2) As other reviews state, it leaves a "ring" where it cleans, but this ring is not one of cleanliness. This ring is from the dirt which the brush spreads around. 3) Because of the poor suction, it leaves the [choose your pleasure] mess that you originally intended on cleaning, just a bit more spread out. 4) Again, because of the poor suction, if you use any kind of detergent/shampoo, it will remain on your carpet, and attract ALL the dirt and grime you can imagine. My original soda spill turned in to a 8" black hole! As you might notice, all the cons revolve around the same theme... but when a steam cleaner doesn't suck adequately, what can one do? Overall, this unit is a complete waste of money. I returned this the following week and purchased the Hoover Silver Steam Vac for only $30 more - it's nice to have clean carpets once again! I strongly urge you to think twice before trying this unit. Definitely keep that receipt handy!
