Nokia 1616 - Feature phone - LCD display - 128 x 160 pixels - T-Mobile - midnight blue

What can I say about this phone. It was exactly what I was looking for. I have a tablet that I use all the time, but I was looking for a no frills unit that I can make phone calls with that has a FM radio. I can also use my regular headphones on this unit.

If you don't need all the bells and whistles of a smart phone and make less than 10 calls a month, get a prepaid no-contract T-mobile phone like this one for less that $20. It's easy to use and easy to add refill minutes either on-line via T-mobile website or refill cards available at many retail outlets like Walmart and 7-eleven stores. You can keep this phone going for 90 days without having to buy a refill card; and it's only a minimum of $10 as long as you keep minutes on your phone. Just like Tracfone - T-mobile lets you roll over the minutes you haven't used. If you are a light cellphone user, why pay $40-70 a month for cell service that you don't utilize? I saw this great pre-paid cell service in Europe 15 years ago; why did it take so long to catch on here in the U.S.? I don't know why we are so gullible to pay through the nose for cell service in America.

I bought this to replace the one that I lost. It's a good basic phone, No bluetooth, No camera, but it works. I gave it 5 stars, because it works well for what it is.

I was buying a basic phone for my daughter to "try out" and I'm disappointed with its performance. I couldn't use the radio at all and couldn't receive picture text. Overall its ok to use for a "trial" phone, at least if she loses it I won't be out but only $35 ($20 for phone and $15 month)

Is this phone from a decade ago? I am incredulous about how limited the functionality is. Contacts may have one number assigned only (or it has to switch memory type) Contact names can be only about 12 characters long. Period. Assigning button functionality is a joke. First, because only the center button can be reassigned, then because if you want to reassign it, there is no way to designate which direction (up, down, left, right) you want to correspond with a certain functionality, and finally because even your choice of which functionalities you want to have on the button is ignored. AAAAaaargh! Really? I got this incredibly cheap phone because I don't care about texting or internet or anything other than being able to make calls. My needs are slim. My last phone was from 8 years ago and served me fine. I would still be using it, but it is an at&t phone, and I needed t-mobile. This phone doesn't even work for the simple purpose of making calls. The sound quality is unbelievably poor, both for me and whoever I'm talking to. A friend recently told me (after trying to have a conversation with me on this phone) "you have a really bad phone." It is true. I am planning to return it and try again.
