HP LaserJet 1020 - Printer - B/W - laser - A4/Legal - 600 dpi - up to 15 ppm - capacity: 150 sheets - USB

I have owned this printer for over a year, and it has been a true workhorse. The print quality is great, the printing speed is great, and it is very user friendly. I have been able to go long periods before having to replace the toner and installation of a new cartridge is very simple. I highly recommend this printer for anyone's home ! DEFINITELY BEATS ANY INK JET PRINTER ON THE MARKET !

I was bitterly disappointed to discover that this printer doesn't work under Linux. I use SuSe 9.3 which has an impressing database of supported HP printers, none of which however is available for purchase here in Germany. It's about time the hardware producers think about Linux users, too. Linux drivers are just text files and they can be created and made available for download in no time.

I use this printer in my tax practice to prepare 1040 returns in client's homes. People are impressed with how fast and clear their copies of their tax returns print out from this printer. It's small footprint makes it easy to tote around and I really like that it only takes 10 seconds for the first page to print out. I also use it as a back up to my office HP Laserjet 3055 All-in-one printer and think it's great that they both use the same print cartridge so I can buy in bulk and save!

I have used many HP Laserjet printers, but this 1020 takes the cake! It is light weight (I am 81 years old). It has a small footprint (I have limited shelf space). It has ease of use (Keep it simple stupid-KISS). It is fast (I do not know how much time I have left). Fonts are sharp and clear (I can see clearly now). Easy to insert toner and to remove paper jams (No one is perfect). USB compatible (Uses the latest connectivity).

I recently purchased this printer for my IT department. It has been a great printer and has produced excellent printing results. My only complaint about this printer's features, is the absence of an online/offline button. For example, I frequently use this as a shared printer. If the printer runs out of paper or you need to use the manual paper tray, you will need to logon to the shared computer and confirm the option with a software dialog. Having a button on the printer would allow for online/offline toggling without accessing the shared workstation. I also have a 1022N, which does allow for online/ offline mode at the printer. Perhaps this is due to the included JetDirect, but a simple button would allow the 1020 to be used in a shared environment without the price of a JetDirect. HP also does not have XP Pro x64bit drivers for this printer.
