Air Hogs, Helix Video Drone Quad Copter

He is still playing with it and says it is the best gift.

My 12 year old son was SO excited when I gave him this (it happened to arrive right before his birthday!). He's been wanting a drone so bad. This one is super awesome because it has a fantastic camera. My 14 yr old and 8 year old were also thrilled with it. They had a blast flying it around outside and then running in to watch the videos. It is pretty easy to fly and control. The only downside is it's durability. We've had issues with Air Hog in the past and their durability. One of the 4 propellers won't spin. I am going to call customer service and hopefully have that resolved. I got this free from BzzAgent. Thank you!!

I have 3 children, and they were all VERY excited when this toy arrived via UPS! And I was excited because I received it for free from BzzAgent, #GotitForFree. We plugged it in, charged the battery, and not too long after, we were outside and flying our new drone. My 12 year old mastered flying it (faster than I did) and can easily control it. He has been able to position it to take great photos and videos. My 11 year old is having a harder time flying it (nearly lost it across the street over a neighbor's house!) so she needs to use the beginner skill level setting. We know it's durable because she's crashed it so many times--LOL! My 5 year old cannot fly this devise at all--he' younger than the recommended age, so I'm not surprised--but the older kids are having so much fun with it that's he's pretty envious. The biggest drawback is that the battery drains very quickly--like under 10 minutes, but I think thta's comparable to other drones. Re-charging it takes about an hour. Overall, my family has been really enjoying this drone. And anything that keeps my kids' attention, and isn't video screen based, is a winner in my book!

Disclosure: I received the product as part of a promotion from the brand. My 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter were pretty excited about this. Once out of the box, it needed to charge for a few hours, so they were a bit disappointed to have to wait. Here in Oklahoma, it's pretty darn windy all the time (heck, our state song even discusses the ever-present wind) so flying outdoors had a bit of a learning curve. My husband pretty much handled the first day, and the copter would get really high and the kids were a bit worried about it getting away from us. Not to fear, my husband was able to bring it down easily. It's very durable, which is a great thing! Several times it came down quickly and actually bounced off the ground, but since it is made with a styrofoam casing, it actually just bounced, totally unharmed. We got about 10 minutes of fly time out of each battery charge, which is slightly disappointing. I tried to have the kids try out the video/picture feature, but they were actually content just to fly the copter!

I received the Air Hogs Helix X4 Quad copter through Bzz Agent for a campaign. I have two boys age 14 and 11 and they didn't know it was coming so it was a big surprise when it arrived in the mail. Both boys are really good with electronic gadgets and thought that having a drone was the coolest thing ever. They immediately tore open the box and quickly read the instructions and were ready to go until they realized they had to wait until the battery charged (which takes a long time especially for kids anxious to play with a new toy - about 2 hours). I think it would be a good idea to have two batteries this way you can still use the Copter while the other battery is charging. Once it was charged the boys started by flying it inside. It is very light weight and as they crashed it into walls and furniture I thought for sure it was going to be broken in the first 15 minutes. As it is a higher priced item I was nervous they were too rough with it and it wouldn't last long. I was wrong it is very durable and endured a lot of crash landings. The camera is really of great quality. We could play back on my computer and see right away what we took pictures of. The battery doesn't last long - seemed only like 10 minutes before we had to recharge. With both boys fighting to play with the drone we wish the battery would last longer or have a second battery. When the boys played with it outside it flew well as long as the weather was calm any wind seemed to make it harder to control. All in all my kids love it!!! They show all their friends when they come over to our house.
