GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking - Black

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only had this up & running for a few days, but I already notice it is not nearly as rock-solid as my last GE Microwave, the Eterna Series, that lasted more than 15 years. This new one does work; I'm just hoping it lasts beyond the extended 5-yr warranty I felt I'd better buy. I wanted the next model up, but did not like the controls spread across the bottom. And the models above that all have the convection & air fryer, which I don't need since I already have. I wanted to buy the closest match to my GE Eterna, but don't feel that this one is even close. Price had a lot to do with my decision, since it skyrocketed since my last microwave purchase, and my main use is merely reheating coffee &/or leftovers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The over the range microwave is a great value. It replaced another brand and has more features. It has a melt feature which is perfect to melt butter. I use this control a lot since I like to cook and bake. I also like the multiple speed ventilation fan. It is much quieter than the previous microwave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought another exact microwave oven to replace the one I had just because of ease of installation. I could use the same bracket and holes. I am very disappointed that my GE microwave only lasted 1 year and 9 months. Just stopped working under normal usage. I called a service person, but the cost of him making a call and replacing a part would cost more than buying a new one. I'm afraid the quality of GE appliances are not what they used to be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Decent. It is essentially identical to the mocrowave I replaced. Two differences I noticed, 1) It makes a loud noise when it first starts (which still startles me), but after 2 seconds runs as normal. 2) I noticed that the older one had a metal handle, and this newer one has a plastic handle. Otherwise, works as expected.

It sounds as noisy as they did 20 years ago. a big disappointment. If it was perhaps installed incorrectly by the professional installers who worked for the company where it was purchased perhaps there is something you can suggest to reduce the horrible noise..
