I bought this to replace my Canon 12x point and shoot. 40X in a point and shoot...OMG OMG OMG ! The jitter control for stills is FANTASTIC! Video...you need a steady hand. ! Anddd, as BONUS.....I've been after Canon to copy the iphones ability to use a Limiter to handle Rock Volume for Video and they DID IT! THANK YOU CANON ! :-) The only 2 cons are...its 2x's as thick as my 12x, and heavier, but I can live with that and am :-) And the 2nd con is minor....when I'm using the Canon iphone App to transfer MP4 video to the iphone.....the App takes forever to convert the video to perhaps MOV??? grrrr ! Why not just leave it as MP4? PS re To those who are technically 'challenged'...the reviews re wifi etc. Call Canon for help. Or, one can just pop the SD out and insert into a Mac or Windows machine to grab your photos/videos! SOP and for Video....thats my Professional recommendation

Ok I currently have a SX260HS, prior to that was S70 and now I get this one SX720HS. For the price, a cable should have come with it to connect to pc. Secondly, and I know, the new programmed features are way different than the SX260 and having difficulty figuring them all out again and setting up the camera the way I like it. Third, it is having a hard time to connect to my home wireless system. ;o( I hope I can update my review as I continue to figure this camera out within 30 days otherwise it goes back to the store.

Just got the camera and really wanted to use it for recording mostly but also to take great pictures. When you don't zoom, the quality is pretty good but the moment you start to zoom, everything is out of focus and I can't even focus on an object that is 5 ft. away. I've tried the manual focus and it doesn't really help. Another feature I noticed is that when you record a video that's about a minute and you go to view the video, it takes a very long time for it to load. My camera turns off about a minute of inactivity and it took more than a minute to load my video. For a camera this expensive, I expected more.

Don't waste your money on this one. I have owned 3 canon cameras, all great except this one. In order to get a decent picture, the image needs to be completely still, a little bit of movement and you got a blurry picture. Lots of blurry pictures being deleted, what a disappointment.

Bought this camera a couple of weeks ago. I already have a cannon G16 great low light camera. I wanted a long zoom to go along with it. I thought maybe a lightweight camera with long zoom would be the ticket. Well when I read the specs about the sx720 I was blown away. Aspherical elements UD elements. Wow! Ive heard of these on astronomical telescopes. And the IS-how about 1/20th of a second at full zoom and an acceptable image. I tested for pixel noise and at 1600 your still good. Aperature priority and shutter priority a must and the sx720 has them both. I like to take shots of birds and this should do the trick. All with a small package.
