Having recently moved to the Indiana snowbelt, downwind from Lake Michigan, I decided to get a small snow blower, especially after a couple of early November snows seemed to portend a long winter. Then December came and went without a flake of snow! I finally got a chance to try out the snow blower today on about 8 inches of lake-effect snow. It has worked like a champ so far. This was relatively light-weight snow. I hope it will work as good on the heavier snow we are bound to get this winter.
I agree with the many reviews of this snow blower. It performs well in wet icy conditions as well as powder. I purchased it because of the reviews and where the reviewers were located - Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan - all areas that get a ton of snow each winter. I am using WD-40 to get the chute to turn. I have had the same problems others have had with the crank and took the extension off the second time I used the blower. It works great; has a 4 year warranty; just plug it in and turn it on; stores in the basement. I think it is worth the price.
It was very easy to assemble (+). Instructions were easy to follow (+). But where it says "do not over-tighten the screws", do tighten the screws.. or they will be lost & threw away together with the snow... You HAVE TO buy an extension cord together with this electrical thrower, otherwise you can't go anywhere. Note its original cord is probably only 10inches long... (-) We had a 8-inch snow, mixed with rain. So it was a thick layer of ice on top of the 8-inch snow, and that was the first time I used it... I really thought that I would break it, since the machine has to get through the hard shell of ice and snow that is almost the same height as its auger... Very difficult for me (weight 100lb) to push it through the snow (of course...). But at the end of the day, it (and I) did a very good job cleaning up my driveway & sidewalk, and didn't break (only lost few screws due to the reason mentioned above...). When there's only snow (no ice), I would highly recommend it! Very easy to use (+)! Highly effective! :)
this thing is AWESOME! only draw back is the cord. Good quality, quiet, and easy to use!
Works just fine
