I purchased this new from Sam's and was not at all happy with my purchase. It was of low quality and did not perform as I expected. The coins get jammed in it. It doesn't give you a dollar amount total...instead it gives you a count on the number of coins which then requires the user to do the math. I finally completely quit using it after a few days because it was a waste of time. I am now looking to buy a better quality counter
I purchased this for myself as an impulse buy when I walked past it in my local club, knowing I had an enormous pile of loose coins waiting to be sorted at home. It had the appearance of being a commercial grade unit with a price tag closer to what I'd expect for a good quality consumer unit, and I figured it would likely pay for itself the first time I used it. I ended up sorting over $200 in a couple hours, paying for itself twice over! It was actually pretty fun watching it, too! Pros: Denomination sorting was 100% accurate, not once did it mistake a penny for a dime, or vice versa. Coin counting was highly accurate, but not 100%. I always do a manual recount and a few times the stacks were 1 short (most notably quarters). Digital counters are a nice touch. Had minimal issues with jams. Auto-advance of stacks worked decently well. By far the fastest and most accurate coin sorter I've ever used, although I've only really used inexpensive battery-powered consumer grade sorters before. Neutral: It's noisy, but sorting coins always seems to be a noisy operation. Does not separate out Canadian currency. Cons: Coins are counted before they are deposited into tubes, and machine loses counts if powered off- therefore if you have partially filled tubes at power-on, the tubes will overflow. Manual removal of non-standard coins/objects isn't difficult, but there really should be a tool-less latch for this rather than requiring the removal of a screw. If coins fall behind the tube advancement mechanism, it's a HUGE pain to get them out. Unit does not seem like it can live up to the volume claims even under ideal circumstances, and I do not feel it is built rugged enough to withstand frequent use in a commercial environment. This unit seems best suited for consumers and entry level small businesses.
Works as advertised, machine does have a lot of jams and with a lot of use will eventually give out on you. I have replaced this machine 3 times prior before.
We have had this counter for a couple of years and it has saved us a lot of time. Usually the only time coins get stopped is when someone doesn't pay any attention to what is going in and then it isn't that hard to fix.
Machine jams constantly, send coins to the wrong denomination slots. Cannot trust the count. Will not handle 300 coins as advertised. I may have a faulty machine. Regret this purchase!
