I bought this MP3 player over a year ago in Iraq to replace my iPod Nano, which was a peice of junk. It is great because you can put music, pictures, and movies on it using windows. No iTunes or any other software needed. I have had zero problems with it. It can't hold anywhere near all of my music at 16 GB but it holds enough for me to have a good variety. As far as battery life goes, I can have about 2 weeks of work outs off of one charge. It also lasted the whole trip from Iraq to NY whith power to spare. This an awesome value esspecially for thoses who don't want an iPod.
I needed to upgrade from a Sansa 4Gb player. After looking at reviews on the Internet, I decided on the 16Gb Sony Walkman. I nornally use my mp3 player to listen to audio books while walking or on long drives. The Walkman performs this function very well. If the audio book doesn't already come as a down-loadable from the library, I've found that it's easy to rip the book from a CD (mp3 or wma - 48kpbs-formats) and put in on the Walkman. Quality for music is also excellent.
I purchased one of these a few mths. back, and I like the fact you can add pictures. I'm a self tought Photographer, and I like sharing pictures with slide show with friends and family. Holds alot of pictures and tons of music. I have way over 1000 songs and still lots of room. It's small enough to carry in your pocket with hrs of your Fav. music, video, and pictures.
I brought this product when I had the money. I almost bent for the 8GB instead, but I saw the 16GB and at the time it was actually on sale. I am an avid music-lover. I have a vast library of music on my computer. This is the perfect thing to buy a music-lover. Honestly, this is a brilliant device. Where are you going to get this amount of memory for that kind of money? Not Apple. It's easy to understand. Efficient when you need to get music onto the device and quick to sync. My brother has another MP3 player and it's quickness to sync all the songs is much slower. If you want a bang for your buck and you love music then buy one. It's worth the money. As for video the screen is a bit too small for anything important, but if you want a music video or two on there it's just fine. It plays well. The only problem I foresaw was just a few months ago it started freezing up on me. But given that I've had it so long and I'm honestly not the easiest on it, and as much as I use it (4-6 hours a day)I'm sure it's more user fault than anything.
This mp3 player has great potential. Unfortunately, I found out too late that it is a piece of garbage. After owning and rarely using this mp3 player, it stopped working after four months. At first it was real slow to respond to buttons I'd press. Within a couple days of it acting like this, it froze, and wouldn't sync with WMP. Just flat out stayed in frozen mode. I should mention that this player was not dropped even one time. I wanted to know what was going on so I googled this mp3 players model number and couldn't find any information from other people that owned it. Then I learned that this mp3's predecessor, the NWZ-S544, is the exact same player. So, I googled this model and found an endless sea of people stating that they loved this unit but it quit working after just a couple or few months. For a $130 dollar mp3 player, this is unacceptable. Especially coming from SONY of all companies. Needless to say, I am disgusted and furious. STAY AWAY from this mp3 player.
