I bought this MP3 player over a year ago in Iraq to replace my iPod Nano, which was a peice of junk. It is great because you can put music, pictures, and movies on it using windows. No iTunes or any other software needed. I have had zero problems with it. It can't hold anywhere near all of my music at 16 GB but it holds enough for me to have a good variety. As far as battery life goes, I can have about 2 weeks of work outs off of one charge. It also lasted the whole trip from Iraq to NY whith power to spare. This an awesome value esspecially for thoses who don't want an iPod.
I brought this product when I had the money. I almost bent for the 8GB instead, but I saw the 16GB and at the time it was actually on sale. I am an avid music-lover. I have a vast library of music on my computer. This is the perfect thing to buy a music-lover. Honestly, this is a brilliant device. Where are you going to get this amount of memory for that kind of money? Not Apple. It's easy to understand. Efficient when you need to get music onto the device and quick to sync. My brother has another MP3 player and it's quickness to sync all the songs is much slower. If you want a bang for your buck and you love music then buy one. It's worth the money. As for video the screen is a bit too small for anything important, but if you want a music video or two on there it's just fine. It plays well. The only problem I foresaw was just a few months ago it started freezing up on me. But given that I've had it so long and I'm honestly not the easiest on it, and as much as I use it (4-6 hours a day)I'm sure it's more user fault than anything.
I had an iPod Nano 8 gb (which costed $150) and it got stolen. To avoid something expensive getting stolen again, I purchased a pink/red one of these for $79. It was half the price of my iPod with twice the storage space! The battery life is long, the FM feature works in my house, and I live way out in the country! I love the amount of space this product allows. I also like how simple it is to use..I had it figured out in about 10 minutes. I like how the software is preloaded onto the MP3 player, even though it does take up a little space. I dropped it for the first time 2 days ago on a tile floor and the only visible mark I see is a little ding on the corner. The built-in speakers have a very high volume and they're great for when I'm cleaning my room and need something to jam to. The software included is very easy to use. I like the drag and drop feature. It was also a BIG plus that I could use content transfer (preloaded on the player) to drag and drop songs straight from iTunes! The songs I had in iTunes were ripped from CDs, bought from iTunes, and downloaded from Morpheus. They all went onto the player with ease into easy-to-locate folders. The only negative I have is that the earbuds included with the MP3 player were too big for my ears & I can't use them. This is an all around a great product and I would recommend it to anyone.
That's it. Awesome. Seriously though, I love this gadget. My husband got me the 8gb model last year for my birthday, and I was so thrilled with it I thought I couldn't possibly be any happier. This year he wanted one, so we ordered 2 of the NWZ-S545 16 gig models. We are even more jazzed about these. As nice as the 8 gig is, the 16 gig not only has more space, but a bigger video screen, and more features like voice and FM radio recording, external speakers, and onboard intuitive software that makes adding content to the player an absolute breeze! It works with Windows Media Player 11 as well as iTunes, and features drag and drop functionality. Since the player utilizes flash technology for storage, it is practically impervious to accidental drops and bumps, and you can store data (documents etc.) other than music and video files on the capacious drive. The video quality is so crisp and colorful, you can almost forget you're watching on a tiny screen. The sound quality is superb, and nicely drowns out bickering children. The user interface is easy to navigate, setup is a snap, and battery life is impressively long. My only complaint, and it's a teensy tiny complaint, is that the earphones provided are too large for my elfin ears, so I bought a set of the tiny ones that fit comfortably inside my ear. The NWZ-S545 is altogether a great value and a great product, one that I will continue to recommend and purchase.
I love the player. Prior to buying it, I read all of the reviews from this site as well as another stores website. The product meets almost all of my expectations. My battery life is great. I have a 3hr roundtrip bus ride to work and home. The player usually last me about 3 days before I need to charge. My mom and sister have the IPOD touch and they are both mad that they spent more money, have less storage space and less versatility. I love, most of all, that I can use so many different programs to load music onto the player. My only problem with the player is the videos having to be a particular format. I have to try and figure out how to convert some of my files. But I didn't buy it to store videos on anyway, so I'm not that bothered.
