Rafiki is the sage of the kingdom where the almighty lion reigns, King Mufasa whom all animals respect and admire for his wisdom and generosity. In fact, it is with this song that the film begins with the scene where the wise Rafiki appears. As he passes by, all the animals prostrate themselves as a sign of respect. Rafiki comes to visit King Mufasa for an important event: he is going to baptize his heir, little Simba, by sprinkling dust on his forehead. He then presents the newborn to the savannah people who have come in great numbers: he then lifts him up into the air from the rock. The gazelles reared up, the elephants barred, the monkeys shouted, all celebrated the birth of their future king.Mischievous, boisterous and carefree, young Simba only thinks of having fun with his girlfriend Nala to the great despair of his tutor Zazu, Mufasa's faithful butler.
