Works well for light tilling. Wouldn't want to use it for a large job or in rocky soil. If a rock does get caught between the frame and the tines it can be difficult to remove because with the electric motor the tines can't free wheel.like they can on a tiller with a combustion engine. Also, with the electric motor there is no speed control, the tines always move at the same speed. I bought this product to re-till long ignored but previously tilled beds and in this scenario it works very well. The unit is very light weight, so it's easy to move from bed to bed, but you do have to be careful to keep your power cord away from the tines.

I really love this tiller. I don't know how it'll be in the years to come, but tears up the ground like a dream, except when it comes to really thick roots, big rocks, and it does fling dirt a little bit back at my pants. It also would stop if it overheats, which is a plus. It took a minute or less to start it again. For a good size backyard garden or other projects this is perfect. It's really light too. I hope I have this tiller for years to come. Roots do get wrapped around bladders but they easily came off.

This thing is perfect for small to medium sized tilling projects around the yard. I used it to till some hard packed dead grass areas prior to re-seeding, which it did with ease. Instructions are easy to follow and setting the tiller up was a breeze. Tiller has two tilling depth settings, which are easy to adjust. Unit is far more powerful than it looks, and has plenty of juice for my needs. Be sure to purchase a properly rated extension cord.

Purchased as a gift for my daughter. I also gave her a 100' long 10/3 extension cord which a 13.5 amp motor such as this requires. The plug on this tiller has a hood around the prongs making it difficult, to impossible, to connect to a large extension cord. You may need to make an alteration to the hood to get it plugged in. The plug has only 2 prongs, i expected it to have a ground prong. The tiller is light and easy to manage, but the lightness is a drawback for breaking up the soil quickly and efficiently. You will need to make many, many passes. Still, it's better than using a shovel and hoe which was the alternative in this case.

I got this tiller to use to loosen up the soil in the chicken run mainly, but after finding out how well and easy it works I will probably have other uses for it. It is more powerful than I had thought it would be. It cut right through some roots about 1 or 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It is not as loud as I thought. The chickens do not freak out like they do when I use a weed eater or a blower any where near their run. The do stay on the other side of the run, but not really upset at all. As soon as I stop they run over looking for worms or bugs. I recommend this tiller totally. Nice that you do not have to worry with gas/oil or getting it started.
