Very easy to install and I don't have to worry about replacing batteries. It's sensitive enough that it's detected smoke from frying greasy burgers and cheese dropping onto the oven pan. I have 5 kids and lived through a house fire when I was a child, so fire safety is a top concern.

This smoke detector was easy to install less than 5 minutes. The alarm is super loud and would wake anyone up during an emergency situation. It is standard that it sticks out from the wall quite a bit making it hard to fit into décor without being very noticeable but safety overtakes looks in my opinion. For the safety of my family this alarm could have no price too high to purchase but being on a budget I loved that this was not priced at an arm and a leg and I could easily afford it. Everyone needs these throughout their home easy to install and will wake anyone with how loud it is.

I got this unit to place over the area we use as a charging station for all of our electronics and where we store lithium ion, nickel cadmium, and alkaline batteries for tools, toys, etc. because I've seen some news stories on fires and wanted to be on the safe side. I love how easy it was to install, using only 2 screws, has a sealed non-replaceable 10 year battery, and activates as soon as you twist it in place onto the mounting ring. I'm not a very handy person and happily installed this in less than 5 min. using only a screwdriver. I sleep better knowing I will easily hear the loud alarm if there's any issue with all the device charging that happens here and I put a reminder in my cellphone calendar to replace this 10 years to the date of install, and to test the battery each year on January 1st. Affordable, reliable, protection. Highly Recommended.

This Kidde Photoelectric Sensor never replace Battery-lasts 10 years. (A lithium sealed battery is included) Too early to tell if it does indeed last 10 years, but definitely willing to find out as that is better than remembering to replace the battery each year and helps the environment by eliminating the need to around 20 9volt batteries. Has all elements required to place in the desired location. It has a hush button that temporarily silences the alarm. and a test button and LED verify operation. The installation is very easy. It comes with a guide and quick setup guide. There is an end of life chirp that sounds when smoke alarm has reached its end. It also has a loud 85 decibel alarm. This unit is really designated for a Living Room space because it quickly detects fires often by smoking, woodstoves or fireplaces. We actually looked at all out our other smoke alarms and after installing new batteries they would not work. Looked at the date on the units, yep, older or just at 10 years at the required replacement time. So, we bought new units to replace our older ones just to be on the safe side. Less worry for sure. Recommend that you look at the dates on the current units you have and replace them. The cost is really not that much when you think about it.

The Kidde 10 year smoke alarm P3010L greatest feature is the 10 year warranty. Just installed this week -if it should fail to perform any where short of the 10 years under normal use-- -Directions state to return proof of purchase etc. for a new unit or a repair. The directions are very well explained from installation with diagrams to activation along with good safety habits. Locations to avoid and you can attach plate to ceiling or on a wall. The alarm is automatically activated when the alarm is attached to the mounting plate with a clockwise turn. The alarm briefly will chirp to let you know it is activated. This unit offers a hush button to quickly silence the alarm and a test button and LED allows for simple verification of the battery and the alarm operation. A End of Life Chirp lets you know when it's time for the unit to be replaced. The alarm is very loud 85 decibel alarm..which of course I hope to never hear going off.
