I live in Tucson..we hardly have wind and this not only blew over but it ruined the umbrella as it hit the ground! i had to fill it with sand (i thought it came a solid 95 lbs!) horrible horrible cost me a fortune as i now have to replace the umbrella!!
The clearance I have available between the ground and the under table stable bar is 13 inches. I was so glad to have finally found an umbrella base that would fit. Listed at 12 inches in height. When it arrived I realized it is 12 and 3/4 inches in height. Thankfully I still have 1/4 inch to play with. Hayneedle please know that customers need and appreciate exact measurements.
To looks like it will do a good job, however I've found filling it with sand next to impossible. It would most likely fill easer if you could find dry sand, the stories in this area keep sand and other materials out side and every bag is just wet enough to make it a very slow process to fill.
Really only holds about 75 pounds of sand. Don't know why they had to say 100. Still would have bought it if they said 75. Beyond that, it is sturdy and handles our 9 ft umbrella like a champ. Only rated for 7 ft, so not sure how long it will last, but so far, so good.
Took me 3 hours to get the 70 lbs of sand through the minuscule hole provided. Made my own funnel and also used three store bought funnels. Very aggravating. Also, holds about 70 lbs of sand when completely full. Never 95 lbs. Finally, the insert to hold the narrower umbrella stand pops out with even the mildest wind and then the screw holding the pole in place starts to come loose. Very poorly conceived and designed.
