The Acer Iconia W500 is a great tablet AND a great Windows PC. Its very fast with superb graphics and, to my surprise, excellent DOLBY sound without extra speakers or headphones. It pairs handsomely with the leather portfolio case from Stilgut in Germany. I'd prefer a keyboard more like what HP designed for their TC1100 years ago but a foldable Bluetooth is a good substitute. Walmart had the best price by far and it's nice to have their customer service behind the purchase. Im really enjoying it.

Purchased to coincide with my Windows based graphics business to allow easy project review with clients. Android & iPad do not allow easy document transfers without going through conversions to PDF and tethered loading. I can transfer files to the Acer W500 via Wi-Fi or thumbdrive. A bonus: Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview (replacing Win 7) which operates faster than Win 7 and connects readily to my Windows Live account via Wi-Fi. I use a Windows 7.5 Smart Phone so now most everything on my phone and desktop contact, calendar and notes software (Palm Desktop with Companion Link syncing software) appears on the tablet also, and updates automatically on all three. Plus Win 8 tile interface is almost identical to the phone. 32gb SSD has almost 20gb free after Win 8, plenty of room for working software. Add a 32-64gb SD card and you have plenty of added storage space and working software can be installed there too as it acts like another hard/removable drive. Overall I am impressed and satisfied with the Acer W500 tablet and the included keyboard dock turns it into a laptop when heavy work outside my office is required. I am not a gamer so cannot comment on how well it does there. I highly recommend the W500 if you need or desire a Windows tablet and it is ready for Windows 8 right now. Later in 2012 it will probably have a larger SSD and come with Windows 8 but the cost will be higher.

This is a great tablet. Of course, the main reason that I purchased the tablet was to install the Windows 8 Customer Preview, and it has run smoothly. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I picked up my Acer Iconia W500 from Walmart's Site-to-Store service about a week ago. I could not be more pleased with it. If you are looking for an awesome portable computer, a fantastic tablet, or just a netbook, this is by far the best choice. I have owned 2 iPads, and an Android Tablet, and have been disappointed and disgusted by both platforms. iPads are pretty, and sleek, and totally useless. They are slow as molasses trying to surf the web, even on a WiFi connection. They are totally incapable of performing any productivity tasks, and frankly the games available for them are about equivalent to the ones I played in high school, but far far shorter. I enjoyed my iPad for about a month, before I realized how Steve Jobs had completely tied the unit's hands behind its back. Sure, it can be powerful and portable, but Apple has no intention of letting you use it for ANYTHING except the very very limited range of purposes THEY have decided. The Android OS Tablet was slightly better, but still suffered from this extreme lack of functionality. Want a spreadsheet? Good luck. They all stink. Want to use a database program to track inventory? No chance. But, finally, we have here in the Iconia W500, a REAL tablet computer. Not some pathetic 'mobile' operating system. No insane 'Apple' rules. This thing will do EVERYTHING your home computer does, and more. It is light, portable, comes with a keyboard, has multiple USB ports, an SD Card port, HDMI port, even a network cable port (who hard connects to a network anymore?) I can use my Iconia to input data into my Excel spreadsheets while in the field. I can create Access databases. I can run Google Chrome as my web browser, like a real person! Oh, and want to print? Well no more begging on bended knee. Print away, on any printer, just like any other real computer. This computer finally cuts the ropes tying the hands of the mobile user. Free yourself from the tyranny of Apple and Android :) Ok, now for the (very minor) things I don't like.... When you click a link on the iPad's browser, even if you dont hit the link exactly, the iPad kinda figures out what you were trying to do, and activates the link. It clicks on whatever you were closest to, as long as you were close-ish. The Iconia doesn't do that. You have to click EXACTLY where you mean to, or nothing happens. Just like a real computer, but not ideal for a 10" touch screen. The other thing is that it doesn't natively incorporate finger swiping to move you around the screen. So, if you are using Chrome to navigate the web, you have to swipe your finger along the actual little bar along the side of the screen to move up and down on the page. However, it does work in some programs. The Iconia has a built in web browser that is optimized for a touch interface, so that is one option. It also seems to work in Internet Explorer. I guess I will have to ask Google to add the feature to Chrome :) Both these very minor inconveniences could be easily solved by a software update. So Acer, I hope you are reading this! OVERALL... I am truly blown away by the high quality of the unit, and its extreme functionality. I even sold both my iPads, and my Android Tab, so that I could by a second Iconia for my wife. If you are thinking about getting an Apple product, or an Android, I STRONGLY recommend you get this instead. Save yourself the headaches I went through trying to get those dumb things to do anything useful :)

I have had several tablets before but I never owned a touch screen tablet. The learning curve was a little longer but well worth it. I just wished there were other options offered with the initial purchase such as: stylus, a case that I could carry and work with. I did find a stylus that works well (in storage by targus. I'm still looking for a case that will meet my needs.
