AcuRite 8" Professional Digital Weather Center 01010

I bought this for my husband. He loves it. He is fascinated by watching weather. We had the same thing at the place we lived previous and the outside weather station broke in our move. I bought him the same weather station and now he has two bases because the base didn't break and he was able to put both bases on the same frequency so he is delighted because one is in house and the other he can carry with him around the house

My old weather station broke when I was putting some new wind cups on it after the old ones didn't live through a hail storm. While holding the old unit I broke the wind direction pointer so I looked around on line for a new one and this one was priced fine for me. It has been doing everything that I want it to do. I'm happy with it. Now let's see how it will do in the next hail storm........haha. The old one was 8 years old and was getting brittle after being in the sun all those years.......to be expected. .

This a tough outside unit. I had good luck with my first one, it made it in high winds, heavy rain & blizzards. We had a hail storm that took every roof in town out and my weather station.

I got this for $70 on line versus $100 in store. It has lots of features for the price and they all seem to work well. The temperature and humidity sensors are in the same transmitter unit and even though there is a fan to draw in outside air, I don't think the fan starts up early in the morning since it is driven by the (south facing) solar cell. So the morning temps probably read high. Other reviewers said this uses lots of batteries so I installed a remote battery back that I can access without going up on the roof. The wireless range is excellent, going through the roof and two floors to reach my receiver and I still get 5 bars.

This Accu-Rite weather station is quite impressive in terms of features, construction, and accuracy! I was quite surprised with the performance following installation. Set-up was straight-forward and easy. I highly recommend the purchase of this item!
