My 7yo loves this but it takes some getting used to the controls. We did useIit outdoors and it flew really high, much higher than I expected like 40-50ft, and we're currently waiting for the leaves to fall off the trees so it might come down from the branch it's stuck on. I will say, the first time we got it stuck it went through several rainy days without wrecking it
The Jump Jet is a break through in RC units. That is about the best thing I can say about it. It charged fine The first flight was the last flight. The plane when started up flew backwards and became uncontrollable. It did a backward spin and would not respond to the commands from from the controller. It hit the ground wide open and was stuck on high speed. I tried everything to bring it back under control to no avail. I have been flying RC controlled units seems for ever and never encountered this kink of problem.
The name, "Air Hogs Fury Jump Jet R/C Helicopter," and picture are great and suggest a sturdy, strong I-can-do-anything sort of product. The actual product is disappointing. It's made out of styrofoam and cheap plastic. Think of the giant stack of foam plates you can buy for pennies each. Think of thinnest plastic like...I don't think I've ever seen thinner plastic. We put in batteries and gave it a try in the house at first. We didn't want to take a chance on it flying into a tree or crashing it outside in the first moments. There was no control in the house. After a mere few seconds, it crashed and burned repeatedly. We couldn't control anything on purpose, especially the direction. Okay, not a house toy....So then we took it outside. After much much trial and error (because several boys and men were involved and testosterone was flowing), it "worked" on the smallest scale. The men explained something about air currents and such. It was still only airborne for mere seconds. Nothing broke or bent on it, but that was mainly because we carried it around like a fragile treasure. (I am a Sparks Reviewer and get it for free and I'm determined to do a thorough job.) I couldn't find anything any of us liked about this. I am of the generation that didn't grow up playing video games, but plenty of my testers did. They have fantastic eye-hand coordination. But this was still an epic failure. It's a dud all around.
I was excited waiting for my Air Hog to arrive, but when it arrived I was greatly disappointed. I could not believe how cheaply made it was. The wings are made out of foam, somewhat like what disposable coffee cups are made of. My first attempt to fly it, it did fly vertically, but when it reached a level of about four feet off the ground it lost control and began to flip and crash. I never got the opportunity to switch direction of wings to make it fly like a jet. After several attempts I kept getting the same results. I can't understand how manufacturers can get away with claiming something about their product when it is plainly false. I received this product from Walmart's spark review project so I didn't have to pay for it. I don't know the price of this item, but any amount would be a waste of money. You would be better off buying a drone. Any child that receives this product will be very disappointed and most likely get very frustrated.
The Air Hogs Fury Jump Jet R/C Helicopter is ok but my son wasn’t too impressed. The Jet is a very light weight plastic that is almost on the verge of feeling fragile and the wings are made of foam. Their are decorative sticks that come already applied to the Jet. Their are instructions on the remote control box as well as an instruction sheet that comes in the box with the Jet. When he tried to fly it he never could seem to get a consistent flight no matter how many times he tried. Even though he charged the Jet before use in less than 10 minutes it required charging again. It also takes 4 double AA batteries (not included)that you put in its remote control box. Because the Jet needs balance for take off, place it on a flat surface other wise the nose will tip down. When you fly it make sure you have a lot of room, mainly to afford trees and anything else it can fly into. We actually went to the park and flew it over an empty parking lot. I feel like my son does about this toy it’s ok but it’s not great.
