Algreen Castilla 50 Gallon Rain Barrel

This rain barre works perfectly well, and it looks very nice. However, a standard blue barrel costs a quarter of the price, works just as well, and you can always disguise it with lattice or fence pickets. If you need it for function, go traditional. If you need it for aesthetics, this is a perfectly fine (but expensive) option.

This is the third rainwater urn that I have purchased from this Company. I really love the style and capacity, but the first urn leaked. Gardeners Supply Company sent me a free repair kit and it worked to stop the leak. I noticed that the other two urns had improvements that stopped the leaking. I may just order another!!!

We had previously ordered two rain barrels, which are perfect and attractive, and thought we'd mix it up a bit by ordering the Urn rain barrel. Adds a bit of visual interest to the yard, and the spigot is top notch. The space at the top for a plant is a bit small, so we chose to add a succulent that doesn't need as much space for roots to spread out. It looks great!

It arrived with a big dent above the spigot, but it is too huge and bulky to try to return so I kept it. Living in a long term drought, I bought it to use to store water from the shower - transferring by carrying buckets to the urn and pouring through the small opening. So far I haven't filled it to the top spigot yet, but thought I could attach a hose to the bottom drain and water plants from there. No luck. The purchase kind of feels like a bust. But it migh work for what it was intended to be used for.

Had the larger barrel, but damaged spout when putting away for the winter, so bought smaller one. I like it, but it is raining so much this year I have to continually empty because it is overflowing and I don't have the extra 15 gallon capacity. Spouts are awkwardly placed, liked placement on larger barrel better, but took off hose and put a spigot connector of own purchase on it. Really handy to wanter plants on the deck. Would like to figure out how to use to water plants further away, but not quite enough of an engineer to figure that out for now. Like collecting rainwater, surprized at how clean it is coming out of the barrel.
