I already have a 30gal. tank from Petsmart, but I needed a smaller, separate tank in order to treat one of my fish with popeye. I've tried a tank separator before and I did not like that. Anywho, I bought this at the store yesterday, not online so nothing happened in shipping. However, there was a small scratch/crack at the bottom, but it didn't seem to go completely through so I'm going to try it out. I'm not fond of the filter this set comes with because it looks like it's missing a piece, so I will be going to Petsmart today to buy a different one. I'm also not fond of the hood with the lighting fixture underneath, but I have yet to fill it up. That being said I might try to buy a different hood, but I'm not sure if it would fit 100%. Otherwise, this is a nice glass tank and good starter. Just in comparison to the one I already have, this does not meet my expectations, but "you get what you pay for." :)

This is a good starter kit for a kid because: 1. Small enough to not take up too much space but big enough to be stable for tropical fish 2. Light enough to not necessarily need an aquarium specific stand-- most sturdy furniture can handle it 3. Tight fitting hood with a small door to keep toys and other objects from being tossed in I recommend buying 2 5lb bags of gravel, 2 compact florescent bulbs (they also have these at Walmart by the fish tanks), and a few plastic plants to start. A small (50 watt) heater is a good choice as well if you're going to keep anything requiring warm water. Even with these added, it's cheaper than buying all components separately. My daughter loves it and it's working out great!

Very disappointing! Filled aquarium up with room temperature water, filled with stones and plants only to have it start leaking 15 mins after. Damaged my furniture and rug. I checked the aquarium after I re drained it and found no seal glue on the left side. I don't think that the company tests their products, like other aquarium company's do. Stay away from Tetra.
