I have had to buy 2 of these because every time I go to change a bulb the metal socket comes out with the bulb and is impossible to get back in. I will not buy another one. Walmart should consider selling a different brand.

12 bulbs later i'm about to throw this away, bulbs last about a week to 2 weeks tops, there is something very wrong in the wiring of this hood. the bulbs flicker then blow out. i have tried different bulbs from many stores, its defiantly not the bulbs causing this issue. I wish i had read reviews before buying in store. I'm not the only one with this issue. Please DON'T buy this, unless you like throwing money out.

The aquarium hood works well, and the cut-outs for accessories are very convenient (although a little difficult to get off). The light flickered a little today, but it generally works very well. The only issue I've really had with it is that it doesn't fit the top of my ten-gallon aquarium (that I also bought at Walmart). It's very close, but a bit too big. It's not too bad; it just has to be slightly tilted. Overall, it was a good purchase. =]

I bought this about a year ago for a tank I already had. Luckily it fit perfectly. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. I bought 2 bulbs & put them in, one on each side. Within a week one of the bulbs started flickering. I could tap on it & it would come back on. I assumed it was the bulb so I switched it with the bulb on the other side (the good one). Then the bulb didnt work at all. So I switched the bulbs back to their original spots and now neither of them work. I still use the tank hood, but only as a lid to help control evaporation & to keep my pets out of the water. When I decide my fish need light again, I definitely wont be purchasing this item.

I purchased this product about one year ago. I was very satisfied at first. It seemed like a good value. It lasted a year with no problems, then the bulb went out. I purchased another bulb, which did not work. I thought it was a defective bulb, so i purchased another, which again didn't work. From reading other reviews I see that this is a common occurrence. Looking back I should have purchased a high quality hood, as the cost to replace it will now be more than if I had gotten better quality the first time. I would not recommend this product, however I have found other aqua culture products to be acceptable quality.
