I have a large golden retriever and I anticipated the bowl being too small for him. My dog likes his water bowl to be refreshed at least 2x per day, or also likes to drink from the faucet of the bathtub, so I thought this would be a good product to try. I like that it came with instructions, and was easy to assemble. It does run on electricity, so it needs to be plugged in. It makes a low humming type noise. Water gently/calmly comes out of the hole in the attached filter. My dog was hesitant to use it at first, but literally within 1/2 hour he was drinking from it. I also like that it has 4 rubber grips on the bottom, so it does not slide around. The one thing I don't like about it is that the filter needs to be replaced every 2 weeks. I think that could get costly over time. I wish the filter would last longer & I wish the bowl was a little larger, so that it could hold more water.
I love the concept of my dogs water bowl staying filtered and aerated to promote health. However this bowl is entirely too small for this to be useful to me. My dogs drink so much water that I don't think aeration is a valid issue for them. I see this as a better product for cats or very tiny dogs. At first my two dogs were very wary of the fountain and kept away. After I removed our other water bowl and there was no other source of water they accepted it. At this point I had to keep checking it constantly to make sure it had enough water in it so that the pump wouldn't burn out. We have gone back to using the 2.5 gallon waterer.
I have 2 cats, 2 dogs, and varied foster animals every so often. One of each either must drink out of a fountain, or refuse to; so thus, we always need a fountain in the house. I have tried quite a few different brands and types. So far, this is the simplest set up and easiest to clean. It also a filter in it, which will prolong your pump life. (The most common reason fountains get trashed.) After opening up the product, washing it out, testing it; I set it up for use. I noticed the pump wasn't aligned properly and went to fix that. However, after adjusting it and plugging it in, the pump was not pushing the water out. I could hear it humming so I knew there was juice to it. I ended up having to take the pump apart (after unplugging it!) to find a stray dog hair had gotten in the impellor. This probably made it's way in there when I was digging around in the water trying to align the pump. Once that was removed and put back together, the pump was and has been fine. I made sure to empty the water and start fresh again. One of the other features I like about it, is you can stick everything, other than the pump, into the dishwasher. I made the mistake of thinking my last fountain's reserve could go in too. Not a chance. Being able to run it through the dishwasher makes sure your bowl is not harboring any dirt, algae or germs. Speaking of reserves, that is the only "complaint" I have with it. I wish it had one as my pets drink quite a bit of water. However, it's not a huge deal since it does hold almost 3 quarts of water. I just fill up a small pitcher of water and refill the bowl every so often. The motor isn't very loud and the sound of water running overwrites most of the motor noise. I really enjoy this product, and expect it should last quite a while. I know my fur babies do, as within 5 mins of placing it down they took right to it.
Look at the size of that Bowl!! I was pleasantly surprised to find the bowl much bigger than previous pet fountains that I have had in the past. My first thought upon opening the box was “Wow, Look at the size of that Bowl!!” When I selected it that really was my main concern, the size of the bowl since I have 3 small dogs and 2 cats. I like the comfort of know seeing them drink out of it more often and not having to worry about refilling the bowl because the cat is sitting in it. The funny part is that my cat now insist of drinking off the trickle of water flowing into the bowl not the water that in in the bowl! Follow the direction on setting your bowl up to make sure you start off with a clean bowl. It is easy to set up and mine actually came almost ready to add water. The filter is easy to place. Though I will be looking into the refills on that this weekend. I want to make sure I have some on hand for next month since I believe it said it would need to be replaced every 30 days. I would so recommend this for larger dogs as well.
The pet fountain stainless steel bowl has a nice durable heaviness, and the pump, fountain, and bowl are very easy to clean and maintain. The instructions even say the charcoal filter does not have to be used. Bottled water works well, better than hard water because hard water means it has to be cleaned sooner and the pump maintained more often. The ocean blue color of the pump and fountain enclosure cause the water to be all the more attractive to my pet, like the blue water of a spring or lake. The pump runs off a plug-in adapter, therefore, little electricity is used. The cord has two parts, one inline plug connects to the next. I make sure the socket I plug into has GFCI protection. The Aqua Stream Pet Fountain lets the owner know his pet drinks enough water, and enjoys the water he drinks. My pets are entertained while learning to appreciate the cleanest water and remember to drink enough because the filtration system fountain provides sparkling, bubbling, fresh, oxygenated water to make their favorite drink healthy and fun. Water falling into the bowl, instead of still and waiting for hours, no longer seems boring to my pets. Now, the refreshing, soothing sound and look of the little water fall is creating a natural, outdoor atmosphere. The moving water entices my pets to like drinking a sufficient quantity of water everyday. It is only for indoor use and can never be left outside, except when used by an adult temporarily while being continually monitored. One of my pets makes his outside water bowl dirty playing in it, so I really want him to have a reliable source of clean, fresh water when he’s out. When it’s very hot, he will step into, knock over, or play and chew his water bowl. Instead, I want him to learn to drink clean water when he is outdoors, so connecting the Ocean Blue Aqua Stream Pet Fountain to the outdoor GFCI receptacle temporarily is the answer. I breathe a sigh of relief watching my beloved friend drinking from the flow of fresh, clean, filtered water knowing it has the purest taste my pet has ever had. I keep the pet water fountain inside the kitchen for continual use. Or, for monitored use, it is right inside the back door where it’s easy to plug in every few days for a couple of minutes spent with my pet watching him drink from the large full bowl training him to enjoy, when he is outside, the clean taste of the flowing, sparkling, fountain of water to make his owner feel very happy.
