I DONT UNDERSTAND YOU MORONES COMPLAINING ABOUT DEFENDER.I OWN A AMUSMT CO. SINE I WAS 16. IF YOU HAD A CLUE HOW DEFENDER WORKED MAYBE YOU COUT GIVEA DECENT REVEIW.THIS IS SET UP LIKE THE ARCADE THE STICK ONLY GOES UP AND DOWN AND YES THERE IS DIFFERENT BUTTONS THAT CONTROL DIFFERENT MOVES.I WISH YOU CLOWNS WOULD KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT OR DONT BOTHER WRITING A REVIEW.GUESS YOUR TOO STUPID TO ACTUALLY WRITE A REVIEW THAT IS WORTH READING.GET A CLUE BEFORE YOU WRITE SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT.
This is a mixed bag from Arcade1Up. It's 3 players for Rampage, which means it's not 4 players for Gauntlet. Gauntlet has stereo sound, but this has a mono speaker and is missing a sound channel, so not all of the Gauntlet sounds can be heard. The Defender control scheme is a complete mess. Joust? No problems with Joust. The joysticks have trouble hitting diagonals.
Husband bought this and the Mortal Combat cabinet. The first Rampage one we bought a few days ago would display a white screen when turned on. This was after he spent 2 hours putting it together. Checked connections, trouble-shooted for an hour before realizing it wasn't us. Went back to WalMart today to exchange it for another Rampage since we really love that game. Just spent another hour and a half putting it together and were so happy when it turned on. Started to play Gauntlet on it and the third stick wouldn't go in the up direction. If you've played Gauntlet, you understand how crippling that is. Mortal Combat runs fine (for now). Will likely just take it back to get cash back for it and buy a real game console for the same price with way better quality.
So far everything is working properly, we chose to have this delivered to the store so we could inspect the package THERE before bringing home, since some people had issues with damage to their cabinets, etc.. We purchased this Arcade1 for Christmas for our 15 yr old special needs granddaughter, she has a lot of limitations with using her left hand, but seems to be motivated
First off when you write a review know what you are talking about. The description of the control layout for Defender told me that you either never played Defender in an arcade or your memory is worse than mine. Luckily I own about 25 real full size machines so I know what I'm doing. I agree the buttons and joysticks would be broke in a few hours in a real Arcade. I knew right off that I was going to replace them with Happ controls. But the layout for Defender is pretty close to the way it was. I attached a picture to show you the way it was. The joystick never went left and right only up and down. You hit a button to change direction another to fire and another for smart bomb. I always stunk at Defender because you had to use your left hand for up and down. I never got use to that. For the price they are okay and a lot closer to the real thing then a PS4 or Xbox one. But no it's not a real Arcade but it's also cheaper and easier to get and a lot smaller. The originals are better for sure, but every time I go to turn one of my machines on I pray that it will come up and work because the originals were not made to last like other items from the past. Vendors would swap them in and out for the next game that made money.
