Disliked the fact that this is the second time ordering these wax/wipes and the order is incomplete. Looks like someone has gotten into one of the three boxes of wipes and they are all dried up. Paid dearly for these and order is incomplete. Requested new 12 wipe box unopened.
After a long far Northern New York winter, it was definitely time to give my vehicle a good cleaning. This product inspired me to get out there and do it just to see what kind of results I might get. The package was easy to open (and reclose) and the smell was fresh and clean but not overpowering. The wipes are about twice a large as a regular sized cleaning wipe and just a bit thicker. I found the remainder of the package directions to be way too limited. The wipes aren't very wet, so one wipe felt almost dry after just doing the hood of my large SUV. The directions don't tell you if the wipes have to be really wet to do the job, or if you should just keep going. To really feel like I was getting the whole car covered with the product - I used 8 out of the twelve wipes in the package. It is a large car, but this really wouldn't be economical. Also to feel like I was applying to product with good coverage, I went over the same area several times - didn't save me time at all over a traditional wax product. In places where there were rough spots in the paint (stone chips etc.) the wipes left bits of lint. In places where there were scratches and roughed up paint, it even left a whitish film. Over all, I can't say they made any positive impact on the car.
First of all, I want to admit that I am one of those people, who takes my vehicle to one of those quickie pressure wash places. I don't usually bother to use the wax, either. I want my vehicle to be clean, but don't care much if I can see my reflection in it. So, I was very interested in seeing how these Armor All Ultra Shine Wax Wipes worked, on my little red truck. Upon receiving these, to review, I decided to take a piece of tape and put a line down the door. I washed the door, then used a wax wipe on one side, but not the other side. The result is pretty obvious. The door is clean, but one side shines and the other side does not. Therefore, I can say that the wax wipes do work and give a nice shine. I wouldn't say the shine is the same you would get, with a can of good paste wax and a lot of elbow grease, but it's satisfactory and easy to acquire. Great for quickie pressure car wash folks, like me. These wipes come in a box, which contains a resealable pouch. There are 12 10"x 15" wipes, in the pouch. There is no nasty smell and each wipe is well saturated, in order to wax a large surface area adequately. The directions are easy - wash your vehicle first and apply in long strokes, in a straight line. Very simple. All in all, I would recommend this product, for a quick, easy shine. And, yes - I could see my reflection, in it.
Having been familiar with Armorall Car Protective products over the years, I was eager to try out these complimentary Ultra Shine Wax Wipes. I live in North Central Florida. We deal literally with hordes of Bugs 365 days a year . . . . Unfortunately, I never learned how to drive in between these hood-splattering pests without collecting hundreds of flying insects on my hood, front fenders and roof. YUK! As a routine, I hand-rub quality, expensive, carnuba paste wax on my cars several times a year. It is very labor intensive, but a necessary workout. If I don't protect my cars with quality paste-wax the Love Bugs, which thrive in May and September, will damage the paint, permanently. It only takes a couple of days for those bugs to do their damage. Their acidic bodies splattering on the front of my cars have to be washed off, preferably, daily. A quality hard-wax-base coat provides good protection. It allows me to wash off the bugs with little effort, provided I don't wait too long. But, during the heavy Love Bug seasons the base wax starts to wear thin from so many washings and, when I really have no other choice, but to use petroleum-based 'Bug Removers'. And, this is where I expect the Armorall Ultra Shine Wax Wipes to provide me with 'spot', on-going, car exterior protection and shine, not to mention convenience. Recently, I took several round trips through the Ocala National Forest, super-duper, breeding grounds for every kind of flying bug imaginable. The hood of my KIA looked like a 'who's who in bug land'. I had to immediately wash off the critters to avoid any permanent damage since Love Bugs are already out, but not in huge numbers, yet. Of course, I received my complimentary Armorall Ultra Shine Wax Wipes two days after I washed the car. Nevertheless, I used the wipes to see and 'feel' what they could do. The directions calls for even, vertical or horizontal wiping motions instead of circular as to what I was used to applying conventional paste waxing. Each wax wipe is approximately 10 inches by 15 inches. Folded in half the wipe fit my hand, accordingly (5 inches by 7 ½ inches). Since there are two sides to each wipe – it gave me four hand-sized surfaces of the wipe to use. When I used the first wipe I noticed the liquid saturation of the wipe would evaporate fast, especially if the car was hot or warm. TIP: Make sure your car's body is washed and cool. Definitely use the wipes when the car is in the shade. TIP: Fold each wipe in half, this will give you four sides to use – work as quickly as you can with your application as the wipes dry out fairly fast. Plus, you'll get done quicker. WooHoo! The results were what I had hoped for. The finish was ultra-shiny, smooth as silk, and beaded up well when wet. At this time I do not know how long this Armorall Wax Wipe protection will last. But, because of my familiarity with their protective products and their fantastic reputation, I do not expect to be disappointed. Because I was impressed with the Ultra Shine Wax Wipes I purchased the Armorall Wash Wipes (another review later). BTW – Walmart has the most competitive price on these Armorall products. I highly recommend the Armorall Ultra Shine Wax Wipes based on what I have seen up to now. On my cars, the results are impressive. Please look at the pics. For an added amount of glossy shine, and probably, protection – you will be impressed.
After using this I've determined there are a lot of factors. Temperature of outdoors... color of car... I tried these on a more humid day with cooler temperatures. 50° I have a silver car. Although it dried nice in some areas, other areas had product "smears" and would have to be buffed with a soft towel. I think these are a one hit, need it sort of shiny for the day, sort of towel. I can't see it protecting against grime, rain or dirt. It would be bad on a black car for sure. I wondered if a hot outdoor temp would make it evaporate better as there is a definite alcohol smell in these wipes. Not enough to ruin paint, but it is there. The tell all statement would be... "Would you buy these again?" To which I would reply, "No."
