His loss is your gain when some of the best-loved movie characters ever return for this delightfully screwball riches-to-rags-to-riches sequel to the Academy Award winning "Arthur". A crooked business deal has biked the world's funniest playboy out of his fortune. So now Arthur must do the impossible: get (egad!) a job. Effervescent Dudley Moore takes up where he left off as multimillionaire prankster Arthur Bach. Back, too, is Liza Minnelli as the ex-Brooklyn waitress who's gone from slinging hash to matching wits with her hilarious hubby. And stately John Gielgud reprises his Oscar winning role as the acerbic valet who gives Arthur what he often needs: a swift kick in the pants. "There aren't many characters that stick in the public's mind like Arthur," director Bud Yorkin ("All In The Family") says. So he and the other filmmaking talents carefully maintain Arthur's charm and exuberance while introducing him to new growth and responsibility. Andy Breckman("Moving") packs laugh after laugh into his warm, witty script. Five supporting actors reprise their earlier roles (including Geraldine Fitzgerald as Arthur's feisty grandmother Martha and Ted Ross as savvy chauffeur Bitterman.) And the model train which chugged refreshments through Arthur's bedroom now encircles a marble bathtub that would be the envy of anyone in "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous.".
