Aunt Lydia's is a good all purpose crochet thread. Colors are consistent, so dye lot is not an issue. Thread does have a habit of being thinner in some places, thicker in others. Some balls do have at least one knot. That being said, Aunt Lydias is flexible and blocks beautifully, unlike some threads. So of the three commonly available brands, Aunt Lydias is one of two that I use regularly for fine thread crochet. Yes, I do recommend Aunt Lydia's
