This thing works great! You can use regular trash bags, no special expensive bags to buy. The cost is reasonable and the product is easy and quick to assemble and use. It does a great job of containing any smells. I'd recommend this to anyone with a baby. Love it!
Everybody make sure your putting the bag in right. I wasn't doing it, so my babys room would smell. Press the blue button and it should go aroung that blue circle with the bag still in the pail, not around the white part of the pail. It saves you a lot of money because you can just use any bag, it doesn't need a special bag like the diaper genie. I use a 13 gallon size bag and also put baking soda in the bag. My babys room doesn't smell anymore.
We live in a 2 story house, and I wanted another diaper pail for baby's room upstairs. I already have the diaper genie, but the refills are so expensive (especially 18 months worth) I decided to try the Diaper Champ because it used regular bags. I put it in my baby's room, and it smells every morning! (after her door is closed at night for about 8-9 hours) I even tried ziplock bagging the poopy diapers, but it did not help. Her room is 10 x 10 and we do use a humidifier at night. But in the morning, it smells just horrible. I am reluctantly going back to get a diaper genie, because at least it contains the smell and seems to hold more diaper, too!
This product does very little to keep odor out. We ended up having to keep ours out on our porch! The device did almost nothing to keep the odor of dirty diapers from filling the house. We used scented trash bags, put the dirty diapers in TWO zipper sandwich baggies each before disposing, and it still stank to high-heaven. After EACH bag change, I have to wash and Lysol the unit or else it would just reek. It's very easy to use, but not worth the smell.
Just got this, but pretty good product so far...Like that it uses any kind of bag. I can reuse the plastic grocery store bag and not have to buy a refill like the Diaper Genie. So far, no smell!
