We got a BACtrack unit for our son. He's young and we thought this would help him stay safe. So far so good. He's really good about using it. We got a unit for the house just in case we ever feel unsure about our own consumption. We really haven't needed it 1 month after getting it but just knowing it's available is so nice. One bad choice could mean thousands of dollars and years of headaches. Not to mention the hurt one can cause another family. I'll take the peace of mind on stand-by any day.

We bought it as more of a toy or party favor because we don't drink and drive EVER. My only issue, which I don't believe is BACtrack's fault, is the 20 minutes you have to wait without putting anything in your mouth before actually using it. Nobody can wait 20 minutes, so it seems everyone is blowing at a much higher level than they probably really are.

We love this instrument. Using it sporadically, we've actually become much better at predicting our own blood alcohol content and have a very good feel now for whether we are around .02, .04, .06. .08 or above. It's also really helped friends who were "sure" they were ready to drive home... and then called an Uber/Lyft. For social drinkers, it's a must have.

I, like a lot of people have a few DUIs on my record. I bought the breathalizer for my friends or possibly a total stranger in an effort to show them the risk they're taking if they get behind the wheel and drive when above the legal limit. If this makes a difference in one person's life it will have already paid for itself.

I am an ignition interlock technician. I run and manage multiple service centers that install ignition interlocks (breathlyzers) into people's vehicles that get a DUI, DWI, APC or other alcohol or drug related offense. I have been doing this for three and ahalf years. I purchased this device because if I receive a DUI I lose my job. Not because my boss would frown upon me receiving a DUI but because the my state won't certify a person that has a DUI. In fact they will actually revoke your certification if you do. That being said, my BACtrack-Element Breathalyzer has been extremely reliable, accurate and has saved me from drinking and driving numerous times. For those of you that either have a BacTrac or are about to buy one I can tell you this. Most states have an offense called an APC (Actual Physical Control) where if you are in or near your vehicle with your keys and are intoxicated you can be arrested. Most states treat this just like a DUI when it comes to getting a Breathalyzer in your car. If you get one of these Bactracs which I recommend. DO NOT WAIT TO GET OUT TO YOUR CAR BEFORE YOU BLOW INTO YOUR BREATHALYZER! You want to see how high your BAC (Breath Alcohol Content) is before you go out to your car. All states you want your BAC level to be under .050 which is a DWI, the lighter version of a DUI which is .080, before you go out to your vehicle. I hope none of you will ever need my services and I can tell you that if you buy one of these you are far less likely to get an alcohol related driving offense.
