bareMinerals colors are WAY OFF now. For decades I used BM from their BM mall store, last few years from Walmart. The Medium Beige 12 color is no longer beige. It now looks so pale people think I'm sickly. Looks like I stuck my face in a flour barrel.
I bought this as Bare Minerals have discontinued the 10 Medium shade, I have the 9 and not quite right so now have the 11 shade, why have you made all the new shades with an orange hue? They all look so unnatural now and cheap, I have used and loved your products and brand for years and now feel all of your shades are very orangey, such a shame
This foundation has been around for years, so naturally it has gained equally as many lovers as haters - everyone has to remember that just because a product works for one person, does not mean it will work for everyone! So please bare this in mind. I don't normally review products for the reason above, but I feel as though if I were ever to recommend a product it would be this one. I have suffered with cystic acne since I was 12 (I am now nearly 24). I have been to a dermatologist, been treated with Accutane (isotretinoin), and have the most regimented skincare known to man - and ya'll know if I've been lazy and used a makeup wipe one evening. I am extremely fair, to the point where Kat Von Ds tattoo lock-it foundation is probably the closest match I can find. I don't suffer like I did when I was younger, but I normally have a blemish or two on my face, and the occasional cyst will rear its ugly head. However, those who have suffered with acne will know that even once the breakouts have been cured, your skin is never the same. I have the typical hormonal redness around the T-Zone, with poor texture, surface and keloid scarring. Now this foundation does not work MIRACLES. I have to use a primer otherwise this will emphasise my pores. And it is not full coverage - however, if you BUFF this into the skin it does cover redness, and improves your skin to make it look more radiant. In other words, 'a more beautiful you'. I've used this since I was 16 and always come back to it - as a secondary school teacher and for day-to-day wear this foundation is perfect. It evens out my skin tone but looks natural. And people need to remember that natural-looking coverage will allow some imperfections through. You will see freckles however I think freckles are beautiful so why cover up your natural beauty - be proud! It improves scarring, and it doesn't irritate my skin - however I don't have sensitive skin (a regular user of retinol and azealic acid does that). I love full coverage on nights out so will usually use this on top of another foundation! You have to remember it is only powder, therefore can only do so much. Continued use will allow an improvement in your skin normally as it uses natural products so is normally better for your skin - but again, this may not be the same for everyone. I use the shade golden fair as I'm one of these rare species that has porcelain skin with warm, yellow undertones. It is slightly darker BUT blends well and isn't noticeable so don't let that put you off - pale girls should check whether they'd be fair or golden fair! A good liquid concealer is ideal under this for those who like to conceal there imperfections and wear light weight foundation. Those who like to wear another layer of skin (I do like that look on a night out or special occasion) may not like this. Hope this helps. I would recommend this! It makes me feel comfortable and confident with the way I look naturally and not as if I'm wearing a mask!
I have very serious acne and have done since I was 13. I have been wearing Bare minerals loose foundations for many years and I swear by it. My skin is the worst of all skin types. Its oily most of the time, but on occasion it can be dry and flakey. My Acne is disgusting and literally all over my face, chest, arms, back and neck. The foundation has many advantages for me. Don't get me wrong, its not perfect but its miles ahead of the others out there, especially liquids. -Gives however much coverage you want. A light dusting for a quick trip to the shops or several layers for flawless prom makeup. -It covers ANY redness easily with the thinnest of layers. -Spots are easy to cover but you can still see the bumps underneath. More being applied can reduce the issues with smoothness but its something you have to just accept as impossible. -So easy to apply and to get even coverage. -The colours are natural and you don't get nasty neck lines or dodgy patches -With a primer, concealer, and a setting spray, it can last 24 hours and look great! -It can go a funny texture if you sweat a lot, but a quick touch up corrects instantly -I used to wear for school and would be perfect until lunch, and a touchup would be required. (But most foundation does, especially on skin like mine.) -If you have clear skin, this is literally the perfect foundation -I have barely any money and it usually lasts me 1-2 months, and I wear a lot of it because of my awful skin. Its relatively cheap. -The bare minerals brushes are much better, but others work well enough for me as I cannot afford to replace mine. -The best thing of all, is it never makes my spots any worse, in fact, it often seems to help them. -It feels like you aren't wearing foundation! -Makes clear skin feel super smooth and silky. When my acne wasn't so bad, people used to stroke my face all the time because it was so soft -As you may have guessed, my skin is super sensitive and this soothes it and never seems to cause a breakout (Not that I would be able to tell) -The opening from the bottom solves all the earlier problems with not being able to get the last bits out. I usually collect a few at a time and then pour them all into one pot.
I've got combination skin, and I like the 'barely there' look, so this is perfect. It feels so light and lasts all day. I have a very active, outdoor job and this foundation stays on in all weathers. While my co workers are sweating, my skin looks the same as it did in the morning! Due to it being powder, there's no grease to cause breakouts and it isn't drying at all. I'm also amazed at how a tiny amount can give such good coverage too. I've been using it for about 2 years and have only purchased it a few times - it lasts that long! It's very easy to use too much at first, so make sure you buff it on loads and don't reload the brush. Would highly, highly recommend if you have dodgy skin and like a natural look!
