Belkin Data Cable

Follow ALL instructions provided and it works well. It took me about 3/4 hour to complete. Of course it depends on how much data you have to transfer.

Using this cable with Windows Easy Transfer worked perfectly. I would never again try to migrate my files to a new computer without one.

I recently purchased a Windows 7 desktop and I needed a way to transfer files from my XP desktop and my Vista notebook to the new computer. This product states it will work with XP but in my experience it did not. I could not get the computers to connect to each other through the cable after extensive trials and research. A Google search showed others were having the same issues with connecting. I was able to transfer files from the XP computer to the Windows 7 using my wireless network, which option the Windows Easy Transfer provided after the failed connection. However, my Vista notebook had no trouble connecting to the Windows 7 desktop through the transfer cable. Files transferred quickly and there were no issues. I should mention that this cable uses the Windows Easy Transfer software, which comes pre-installed on Vista and Windows 7, but not XP. You can download it for XP like I did but it might not work. In comparison, the transfer cable took a fraction of the time to transfer roughly the same amount of data than going through the wireless network, however. I would recommend purchasing this product for a Vista to Windows 7 transfer, but if you are transferring from XP just use your wireless network or an external HDD.

Software was easy to use. Transfer was quick and painless. Great product, plus so easy a grandma can use this cable like an Expert pro!!!!!

As I read the Instructions and followed it exactly. my files transferred beautifully. NOTE: you wil NEED a second moniter in able to follow the directions exactly, But worded wonderfully. I am so pleased NOT to habe lost my files.
