I have used several different tire shine products and by far my favorite is the foaming kind that is a one step spray on and let it stand. This product is more of a liquid spray that is sprayed on and then after a few minutes you are supposed to wipe any excess off. I like how this tire shine applies and looks after wiping. It shines nicely without looking overly gooey or sticky like the old school Black Magic silicone tire dress.
My tires are pretty new-just 5000 miles. Sitting in the sun for a year made them look older than they are, but after treatment, they look brand new again. Took one pic just after applying to the front tire, & the difference is night & day. It was very easy to apply-just spray on, wait a while & wipe off. The only real problem is that now I feel like I have to treat all the other black trim on my Outback.
Product is pretty watery. The spray bottle only shoots a very thin stream out, so it is hard to cover whole sides of tire. It easily sprays on the wheel, which you then have to wipe off. After you wipe it around the tire, it is very shiny and makes it wet looking. It easily gets on the ground too. I didn't like it as much as the foaming tire products which is easier to stay on the tire, and doesn't make as much mess. Foam might not be as shiny, but still good enough.
I just sprayed the black magic spray right onto a clean cloth and then applied it by sliding across the face of the tire. It makes for less waste and is fairly easy. The tire shine is very nice and what you would expect from a product like this. Definitely use an applicator - a hex head applicator would be ideal but I used a cloth folded into a square. Be sure to keep the product off of the finish and the wheels - it can be difficult to remove if left on.
Tires are meant to get dirty and deal with harsh weather. I put the tire shine on both my car and rv. I can definitely see a difference just in keeping the tires clean longer. I apply this stuff once a monh when i clean out my car and it makes my tires look brand new for awhile.
