Been using USB next meter for bmore than 10 years and very satisfied with it before I was using ordinary bayer meter until the USB came out and the the program on the net when I changed.
I much prefer Freestyle Lite strips. I've been a diabetic for more than 40 years and have used many different strip brands. Freestyle is simply easier to use. 1) It requires a much smaller blood sample so unlike Contour, I don't have to milk my finger. Years of life as a pin cushion shouldn't have to be any worse than it is. 2) The Freestyle strip draws blood from either side, which is much less awkward than Contour. If you test on both sides of the fingers on each hand, the Freestyle meter fits comfortably in your hand at the correct angle. The Contour meter does not. Try it yourself. 3) While some studies have shown that Contour is the most accurate on the market, I have tested it against Freestyle side by side at the same time with little difference. It's my understanding that all meters have a 20% plus or minus result margin of error anyway, and the difference falls within it. Unfortunately, I have to use Contour because I get my Dexcom continuous glucose monitor supplies through Medicare and Dexcom, which has an agreement to use Contour strips as part of its supplies. Thus, Medicare will not pay for Freestyle--even if I don't order the Contour strips that Dexcom supplies--- and unless I want to pay out of pocket, I am forced to use a product I don't like.
I have found the Contour Next Test Strips to be good but they could be better. My only complaint is, which is minor, it is sometimes difficult for the test strip to pick up the blood being tested. In my opinion, the area at the end of the test strip where it picks up the blood should be wider and more absorbent.
I love this test strips they are ease to use and you can apply the blood with out worry about not working. My friend is diabetic also she have a different brand of meter and test strips, one day I left my meter at home and I feel low on sugar, she let me use her meter but she told me "Be careful sometimes the strip does not work". I told her my Contour test strip never fail on me, not a single one.
I got my Contour Next EZ meter about 2 months ago. I have tested 3 times a day since. Not a error on any of the strips yet. That is so much better than my freestyle. My Freestyle give me a error 3 or 7 once every 4 to 7 test. I thought that was normal.
