These earbuds are great, without a doubt. Sound quality is very good, but the main reason I purchased them was for the noise cancelling properties. I have a 15 month old who screams frequently for the joy of it. The noise cancellation itself is very good, but no match for our little fella's screams, but the aware feature with active sense or whatever its called is just fantastic. For anyone else who uses earbuds for this kind of reason, you'll know that constantly having noise cancelling on locks you in your head and stops you from being able to take part in normal life. As such, I was particularly interested in the active sense feature which allows you to take part in normal life by hearing what's going on around you, but actively seeks to cut out loud or intrusive sounds. It works incredibly well on these things. After spending a couple of £hundred on earplugs and ear defenders and having purchased Sont WF-1000xm5 and WH-1000xm5 for this purpose, I now use these all the time. They won't necessarily catch the start of a single scream, but they will cut in to reduce the impact of any that follow in quick succession. Also, they seem to reduce the frequency of even the initial scream, and it has always been the frequency of the screams which I found hardest to stomach. As I've been writing out little man has decided to start screaming as he wanted some water, and they didn't cut in immediately, but quickly enough to suppress the following ones to the point where it was was obviously audible, but the frequency and volume were subdued. The app is pretty poor. Other than initially connecting once charged buds are removed from the case (which does give enough time to use the fit test function to ensure that the noise cancelling will work as effectively as possible) the app will not then connect again to the buds, which is extremely irritating if you have to remove one or both of the buds for any reason as you can't then check the ear seal. However, I can personally forgive the rubbish app as the noise cancelling/aware with active sense is so effective. I should also add, that for my specific purposes, the noise cancelling on these is better than on both the WH and WF xm5s from Sony. I appreciated that others, with different needs may have a different experience though. I purchased the xl/xs stability bands and buds to make these fit properly for me, whereas the Sony WF-1000xm5 I found to offer a better out of the box fit.
I bought these to replace the earlier model and what a difference . The title says it all, they really are fantastic . Fabulous clarity of sound and the noise cancelling feature is unbelievable. Not the cheapest earbuds to buy but once you have these there'll be no other options for you to consider in the future.
Left ear started making a horrible LOUD waving base noise, then the app would not connect. I managed to do a full reset once then same happened again but this time they won't connect to the app even though it sometimes can see them and tries to connect but I get connection failed. Tried using 2 different andriod devices same thing. Bose replacing them FOC
The sound cancelling on these Bose QC earbuds 2 are like nothing else I have used with ANC. The effect fades in over a short period which makes you feel at peace rather than disillusioned, it's a subtle effect but makes a huge difference. The noise isolation is no doubt aided by the excellent and customisable fit. Each bud has a canal tip and ear fitting which can be altered making these the most comfortable in ear headphones I have ever used – fit is something I have really struggled with in the past. I have found them comfortable and secure for commuting, exercise and even sleeping. The sound quality I excellent and can be tailored to your liking in the app. It's not all good news though I found a few issues with the implementation. Some things to consider are that there isn't a way of checking how charged the case is or wirelessly charging it. The other main issue that effects me is that if you want to use only one bud then it has to be the right one, for most people this won't be an issue but I personally like cycling with only the left one in so my right ear is open to traffic. These inconveniences do not take away from the excitement sound quality and noise cancelling so I would still highly recommend.
Excited to open the disappointingly small box, but the earbuds are wee so don't know why I expected more bells and whistles. I was thrilled that they fit perfectly first time, without fiddling with fittings. The 'bavoom!' sound is unique to your ear and is reassuring every time you west them. and connects easily once set up with the BOSE music app. I've been using them heavily for over a week now, for music, commentary and work meetings - at home, in the office and traveling in car and train - so have a good idea of what's good, and what is more disappointing. What's great? The sound quality is brilliant, immersive and the quality you would expect from BOSE. I have their BlueTooth speakers - and vouch for their deep base and quality through midtones to high levels. These don't disappoint either. In 'Quiet Mode' - the noise canceling is exceptional. It truly knocks off most outside noise and sounds, except for the noisiest places. It's dangerous though. I had a soft toy launched at me for ignoring my wife. Completely unexpected - I nearly jumped out of my skin. However, given the chance you really get involved in the music or the commentary of the moment. For less nervy moments, and not to appear rude at home and in public, the 'Aware Mode' is the safer option, allowing you to have conversations while still muting the general background chitter-chatter. It's also relatively comfortable. I don't think they're the lightest or most comfortable buds I've worn, but they do the trick. The app is also spot on and allows you to easily amend bits and bobs, sounds and mode settings. There have been frustrations. The biggest disappointment isn't the lack of wireless charging, I don't mind it not being there, it's the battery life. I'm lucky to get 6 hours out of them in Aware Mode. In Quiet Mode it varies, but 4 to 5 hours is the norm fully charged. I think this is poor. OK, you can get a quick boost but I'd want more. I've not had chance to try it on a flight yet, but it will be OK for short haul European flights - but transatlantic or beyond the Middle East and it will be frustrating. Also, after a week of use, the left bud doesn't provide the same level of noise cancelling in noisy environments as the right one - which is really noticeable. The touch controls aren't very sensitive either, which is surprising. So overall, stunning sound and noise cancellation let down by so-so battery life. Would I recommend? Yes, I use all the time - while the battery lasts.
