The reviewer purchased two 12" 400W RMS 800W peak MTX subs. They found that the subs get hot, distort over half volume, and the bass boost doesn't improve performance. The reviewer suspects the subs may only be 600W peak. They are suitable for basic use but not for high bass setups. Despite tuning attempts by two experts, the performance could not be improved. The reviewer notes that their friends with the same subs and different amps experience significantly stronger bass output.
After installing my sub and amp and checking all connections, fuses, and input, the amp did not work despite power going in. The green light came on, but no signal went out to the speakers. The remote turn on wire had power, but still no output. Even the RCA wire tester showed no signal. Spent hours troubleshooting only to discover the amp was faulty. Disappointing experience.
Using this amplifier to power my 2 12" Kenwood subwoofers was disappointing. It does power them, but the output falls short of the rating. The subs hardly bump even when turned up. The amp always runs very hot. I would not purchase this product again.
I had this amp in my truck for 2 years, placed behind my driver's seat. It worked well with a slim boss 10" sub. However, after switching to a scion XB with prewiring, it started having issues staying on and powering up. I found reviews mentioning overheating, which I suspect is my issue. Despite this, for the price, it's a good amp for an air-conditioned cab setup. I'm working on improving cooling but not very hopeful.
I own two 12" Kicker Comp subs running at 4 ohms each, hooked up in parallel and bridged. They hit harder this way, but can't run at full power for long without overheating. After playing three full-length bass-heavy songs at full volume, they were almost too hot to touch. When hooked up separately, I can run them at full volume for about 2 hours without needing to shut it off. -AR1200.2
