Braun Series 5 5140s Men's Electric Foil Shaver, Wet and Dry, Pop Up Precision Trimmer, Rechargeable and Cordless Razor

After two years, just stopped working, even though fully charged

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed the Braun Series 5 the first shave, that was until later in the day when I looked in a mirror at work and saw how patchy it shaved me. I've never had an issue using an electric shaver before in regards to patchiness. So next shave I went more detailed and really focused on shaving all parts of my face looking closely in mirror doing so. It took me about double the time my other shavers would, still leaving a weird patchy neck beard that I had to go in with another shaver to clean up. For my face, it works well, I specifically love the side burn shaper, but in terms of full coverage shaving it was not ideal. Another aspect I really enjoyed was how easy the cleanup was. Simply take off the foil razor portion, exposing the inside, use the little cleaning brush provided and maybe blow a few left over stubbles away and BAM your clean. I feel like the more usage of this, the better I will get at it. But from first shave it was not an easy use.

The multi-flex five position head made it easy to get a close shave at any angle. The wet dry capabilities made it great to get that refreshing shave. The lithium ion battery allowed me to take The razor on the go. The comfort flex head locks a n to 5 positions. For any angle in any spot needed to reach it was easy to lock in and get the close shave. Braun says the razor is waterproof up to 5 m. Well I didn't go swimming or diving with it but taking the razor in the shower is a definite benefit. That nice clean close shave right out of the shower. Also able to clean out the head under running water was a good benefit. Probably the most surprising feature of the razor was the lithium ion battery. Not having to be limited to chord length or worrying about a power source while traveling was a great plus when using this razor all week long. The Braun 5140s razor sure is a step above are the razors that I have seen being used. Going every day without any nicks from the razor ,gotta love that!

I tend to try and shave last minute before leaving to work and this shaver was able to get the job done. I used the precision trimmer first to get the long hairs then went back over it all with the easy glide head to finish the job. This shaver did almost as good of a job as an actual blade razor. It completely met my expectations and I look forward to many many more uses from it, especially since the battery life is so good. It has a great feel to it, durabale yet not too bulky. For those needing a quick and smooth shave in little time, this is the tool for you!

Braun has done a great job on every conceptual aspect of the electric shaver, including: packaging, instructions, guarantee/warranty, features, and design. The box itself is impressive, highlighting all key features and design, as well as stating there is a 60 day money back guarantee and a 2-year world-wide warranty. The instructions are simple and straight-forward; YES, you should read the instructions! The stated “50 minutes cordless shaving” is true; after a full initial charge the shaver has worked well for more than 1 week with no recharging. Although the shaver weighs slightly more than I would have thought, the shape and grip is indeed ergonomic; which is a good thing, since you need to reposition the shaver in your hand to hit all areas of your face and neck. I used the shaver dry, and it gave me a close, smooth shave over most of my face, but there were a few “stray” whiskers that needed more attention. Similarly, whiskers around my chin dimple, lips, under the nose, and lower neck required special attention. The shaver and pop-up trimmer are easy to clean with the brush that was provided. I have used a regular blade razor with shave cream for more than 40 years, and although that shave is better than an electric shaver, in my opinion, I will continue to use the Braun shaver on a part-time basis. It is a nice change of pace and it works well for quick touch-ups without the mess of water and lather.
