This is my second set of these tires. I got approximately 20,000 miles of winter duty out of the first set. I put another 5,000 miles over the summer in anticipation of replacing them for the winter of 2011-2012. These don't have the snow traction of a Bridgestone WS-50, which were superb on my Saab 9-3.What the LM-25 gives up in snow traction is more than made up in non-snow driving. They are a great winter run-flat for E-90 series BMWs.
Great tire for my winter driving requirements in Southern Ontario, mostly highway, usually bare & dry, or bare & wet, with the occasional snowstormthrown in. I bought the car in January, and put the tires on the day I got it, snowed a foot the next day! I was worried about using a 300HP RWD car all year, but no problem with these tires on the car, & we had more snow than usual this past winter.
I got these tires for Wisconsin winter driving for my 135i. I recognized better grip right away from the day they got on the car in 40 degrees F compared to my performance summer tires. I have been extremely impressed with the grip and control of these tires in low temperatures and on ice and snow, even on my RWD vehicle. With these tires on, my car feels more secure on snow that myprevious AWD vehicle with all-season tires. This is a big step up to have a setof winter wheels in addition to summer wheels.< br>< br>< br>< br>One note on the negative side is an increase in road noise on wet pavement by higher temperaturesaround 50 degrees: in these conditions, it feels like the rubber compound sticks to the wet road and makes more noise. Anyway, these tires should be swapped for others when the average temp reaches 50 degrees. Although I have not driven inreally hard rain, I still feel confident in the rain. On dry pavement in cold temperatures, both grip and control are magnificent.< br>< br>< br>< br>I will buy again when these tires reach their end of life.
Very impressed with these tires. I have Blizzak's on my '97 Camry so I knew what to expect and to be honest, I wasn't expecting my BMW to perform as well as it did when I put these on. Being RWD, I suspected that I would have traction issues no matter how I babied the throttle in snowy conditions but was pleasantly surprised with the traction in both acceleration and cornering. I feel muchmore confident in being able to take my Bimmer out in nastier conditions. Bridgestone did a great job with these tires and I highly recommend them. Of coursewith any snow tire there is the increased noise over the OEM tire when on regular road conditions, but I'm willing to deal with that.
There's just not much OEM approved for the Z-4. Between these and the OEM potenza's, quiet, don't follow every little groove in the pavement. Given that the car is not run on a track every weekend, or even ever, these tires make somuch more sense than the OEM. And, heck, this is my ladies car - and, in Portland I hear it rains. And snows maybe once per year. I feel SOOOOO much secure knowing she is driving on these than on the Potenza's. I suspect there are better options if you want to carry a can of fix a flat with you (car came with run flats), but in the RFT options - these win!
