When I replaced my 30+ year old white electric range with a new black one, I wanted to change my white range hood for a matching black one. My condo is approximately 30 years old and was built without outside venting over the stove so I needed a non-ducted range hood. After an exhaustive search (pardon the pun) I finally located this Broan range hood in black. It is essentially an updated version of the 30 year old model. I had it installed professionally but watched the installation and could probably have done it myself. Very easy and quick. The fan in the updated model is not quite as powerful as the old one, but it still does a very good job of clearing up any smoke or cooking odors in my kitchen. It is fairly quiet, even on the higher speed.

Biggest complaint is the hood arrived with a big dent in the back panel that rests against the wall above the stove. The carton was not damaged so it must have been packed that way. We were able to push the dent out enough to make it lay flat against the wall and that area does not show so we kept it. The metal is flimsy compared to my old hood but the color (bisque) matched my new stove perfectly. The noise level is lower than my old one but on the other hand the fan does not draw as well. It was a fair value for the price.
