Brother Business Smart MFC-J4420DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan

The overall print quality if very good but I have a major problem with the wifi connectivity. It seems like EVERY morning I have to shut the printer off for 30 seconds or so and then restart it in order for my iMac to "find it" and print. I have spoken to Brother tech service multiple times on this and each time it works fine after the help, but within a couple days it goes right back to the same problem. This is getting very frustrating.

I was not happy in the quality. Looks like I substituted space wise for quality. I feel flimsy is a good description of the components you will use often and I feel if not very careful something will break. I still have yet to get the scanner function to work, even with help from customer service.

Overall I am satisfied with most of the features and quality of my 4420. The greatest disappointment/ frustration is with it's ability to print 8 1/2 x 14 (Legal). I have needs (each month) to printer 40-50+ pages of document that call for 8 1/2 x 14 paper. This printer is only able to print (1) 8 1/2 x 14 page at a time. Unfortunately I have to resort to another printer to complete the volume of pages I require.

I recently bought this machine with the idea of using it for a low volume business use in my office. I had been using a HP printer which gave me good service for the 4.5 years I had it. I had software issues with using a new HP and decided to try Brother. I have just used up the starter cartridges and can say that the quality printing was lower than HP and the machine is very slow. This printer would be better for home use to print out an occasional letter. I will say that the printer has a small footprint because of its compact design and that is a plus.

Prints the usual stuff on light weight printer paper. However, using the back paper feeder for heavier paper, which you can only load one at a time, is totally worthless. It took me over 45 minutes to print 6 sheets - AVOID THIS PRINTER AT ALL COSTS if you ever need to print heavier paper!
