Brother Computerized 294-stitch Project Runway Sewing Machine PC-420PRW

Purchased about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Arrived in two days and setup and use is very easy. Only change I made was to change the needle stop to the up position for quilt piecing and slight adjustment was needed to alligator decorative stitch. User guide made this very simple. Sews more quietly than the previous Brother machine. Actually sews quieter and as smoothly as my Viking. Larger work area great for quilting and manipulating large pieces of fabric. Knee lift a plus for allowing you to work with two hands attaching ruffles etc. Sews great with doll clothing to quilting. Very pleased with purchase.

I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Fall Sewing Contest. I have owned this sewing machine for approximately two years. I recently made a quilt for my husband out of old blue jeans using a heavy fleece backing. The quilt has black sashing between each piece of blue jean. I decided to explore some of the more decorative stitches that are available with the Brother Project Runway PC420. I quilted through the black sashing using black thread. It is subtle but does its job of keeping all the layers of the quilt in place. I have been so impressed with this machine. With a press of a button the needle is threaded! Press a button and the stitching thread is cut! I have gained lots of confidence in my sewing thru this machine. I highly recommend the Brother Project Runway PC420.

I've always thought Singer was the best in sewing machines. I was wrong, especially in later years of the product. I don't know if Brother is the best, can't possibly know. But, it is much better than my Singer, which died a sudden death. I would definitely recommend the Brother PC420. Hope this helps if you're trying to decide between a Singer and a Brother. E. Mann

I wanted a machine that had all the functions I use as a quilter yet I could carry to classes. This machine seems to be perfect for that use. I could have gotten a less expensive machine but it did not have a knee lift like this machine did. As an added bonus Brother is made by Baby Lock and my main machine is a Baby Lock, all the bobbins and feet from the Baby Lock fit this machine.

I love it. I have used Brother for years. I really like their economical products. This machine is awesome. It has all the extra stitches, I was looking for, and alphabet, too. I added to my line up, of 2 other Brother machines.
