I LOVE this label printer. I bought a case for it and I take it everywhere with me. I label my garden plants with the waterproof labels. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Best labeler ever! I wish it was a color label maker. I would definitely use that all the time too. Best purchase ever!
I use this printer with an iphone 13. It works really well, except: It can take up to a full minute after turning on for the bluetooth to connect, and you have to manually select the connection through menus on the app, every single time. Also it uses a weird USB connector that is difficult to find, or even discover what it is here on the Brother site. Which just says "USB Cable" So don't lose the cable
Where has this been all of my office life!? I have become a bit of an office supply junkie and happened upon this gem because someone was getting rid of the tape. I purchased this and i don't see an end to my madness thanks to this labelmaking beast.
So just like the product pitch, I wanted to use this in the kitchen for labelling pantry items. Plugged in, with a dedicated iPad nearby, I should be able to step up, open the app, type the text, and hit print. But some really poor design choices keep that from working out-of-the-box. First off the power. It shuts off automatically when idle, even if plugged in, fine. But the power button is a flush-mounted dot the size of a lentil *on the back* of the unit where you would think only a never-press-me-reset button would be. Why not a big button on the top next to the light that shows it's on? Next the bluetooth pairing. As other reviewers have noted, it doesn't maintain the pairing so you have to go to your device's settings and reconnect *every time*. But it turns out that you can work around both of these issues by changing the setting that powers off automatically and make it stay on. Astoundingly you cannot do this through the app (either one, more on that later). Instead you have to plug the printer into a computer, download *another* dedicated app for changing settings, and fiddle it there. Then there's the app. The promoted one you end up at if you scan the QR code on the device is "iPrint&Label", and it's a toy. Only sized for a phone, not a tablet, and doesn't even rotate to landscape mode. Fortunately there's *another* app, "Design&Print", which works much better, and is frankly just as easy to use. Have to hunt for it, though. Hope this helps before you get frustrated.
I had a very old P-touch model that was finally starting to have issues (wouldn't always turn on.) I am very happy with the new one and I really like the updated software. I wish this model was able to accept the old TZ cassettes tho. I had a number of them I had hoped to use up and they aren't cheap! I did some research and all I could find was that the newer TZe cassettes were more environmentally conscience. I found however that the newer cassettes have additional holes and this newer device has additional coinciding pins and as such does NOT accept the old type cassettes. This was a major disappointment to have to throw away all those expensive old cassettes.
