This was purchased for around the home repairs and minor sewing. Only used once so far and machine performed excellently. As I spend more time on it, will amend review if needed. The stitching was good, and once settings were figured out, the zig-zag worked well. You can vary the width and length of stitch. I have not tried all combinations, but it seems a straightforward task to select different stitch patterns. There are a couple areas that leave something to be desired.....I found the "needle threader" difficult to use, although I did finally manage to get needle threaded. Also, the bobbin thread. But once everything was set up, it sewed very well. No bunching, knotting, etc. Smooth stitch. And at sale price, cannot be beat for a machine with 100 stitches.

A wonderful light machine that does everything it says it does. I had a 40 yr old Kenmore with the cams so this new technology of digital everything is new to me. Definitely user friendly. I had no trouble with settings. I'm a little clumsy with the bobbin filling, pretty good with the needle threader. If I had one complaint it would be that it didn't jump over the pins well. Maybe there is a special foot for jumping pins but I haven't gone that far yet. Best part, no oil. Just clean the lint periodically.

I am the proud owner of another Brother sewing machine I just love it!! I owned one once before and used it for 18 years I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to operate The computerized stitches really worried me but its delightfully easy to use and does a great job!!

I purchased this machine 2 weeks ago and have sewn 2 quilt tops with it. It probably would not be great for sewing really heavy fabrics, but it worked very well for what I do. It has a lot of embroidery stitches, which I plan to use for some appliqué. It doesn't thread quite as easily as my older Brother machine, and one has to remember to keep the thread ends out of the way when starting a seam, or the thread gets caught in the undercarriage. However, the price was very reasonable, and the machine works well, now that I have made friends with it. I think this sewing machine is a good one, and the price was excellent.

Was excited about the choice of stitches on this machine. Got it home and started playing with the different stitches. Picked a stitch I liked and switched to a nylon thread. Machine kept jamming. Per instructions, took off footplate, then needle plate cover and realized needle plate cover is a very thin, very delicate plastic and seems likely to break easily. Unjammed the thread and went on. Jamming occurred several times again. Possibly my thread choice is causing this. To take off the footplate to access jamming is very difficult due to screw location. The tool that comes with the machine used to remove the screws is also very hard to handle. It's like a metal circle loop with a screwdriver blade on one end. Very frustrating to unjam thread on this machine. Will be taking it back and switching to a Singer, which is what I had in the past and the thing lasted for years. Sorry Brother, but ease of access to footplate, cheap plastic needle cover plate and inability to handle nylon thread make this a poor choice for a machine.
