After spending hours researching which cutting machine would be best, I picked the Scan and Cut SDX125e and couldn't be happier! I wasn't expecting the detail in the cuts to be as perfect as they are, even with some of my smaller detailed designs. Definitely recommend this product to anyone in the market!
I am so disappointed. I bought this machine for my business and to also make crafts with my son. I opened the box, set up the software and got right to work. First thing I realize is the software I was hoping to use isn't available in the US. That was the first of many problems. To sell a machine and not disclose this is not acceptable and I feel as though I was scammed. The second issue is cutting a circle. I printed my customers business logo on a sticker sheet and scanned it into canvas workspace. I aligned everything perfectly and put circles around the stickers where I wanted to cut. I then proceeded to cut the stickers and to my surprise they were completely off. I wasted an entire package of sticker paper thinking it was user error and unfortunately it is the machine. After a few uses of trial and errors now my mat won't load properly. The right side is moving and the left side freezes which dragged my mat in sideways and caused it to fold multiple times. I am beyond frustrated I spent so much money on a machine that had such good reviews. The last issue I just experienced was buying a 12 by 24 mat to try and cut vinyl. I go to load a BRAND NEW brother mat and the machine cannot recognize the mat. How is this possible? Multiple attempts and I gave up. I am sending this machine back tomorrow. Don't waste your money.
Only used a handful of times was like brand new. Machine now won't turn on cost as much to fix as a new machine. At their price point should last more than 10 uses on simple items. Bought a bunch of accessories that are now useless. Tell me why my older cm never had these issues
I love this machine EXCEPT for the mats. I find them thin and flimsy. I also have a cricut and those mats are more substantial plus you can insert them into the cricut machine top to bottom or bottom to top which allows me to spread the use of the mat over the whole mat instead of having to drag my cuttings manually over the ScanNCut mat. I hope Brother redesigns and improves their mats. Also, the cost of the ScanNCut mats are ridiculous compared to their quality.
Hobby cardmaker here. I spent time trying to determine which of the many similar machines would best fit my needs; cutting images from cardstock. Fellow cardmakers had raved about this machine. I watched many and made comparisons to similar machines. I gifted it to myself for Christmas. One of the major complaints people made was that the mats needed to be constantly replaced. When I ordered the machine I purchased it as a bundle with 6 mats and 6 blades. I am very glad that I did this as I think I have avoided a huge amount of frustration regarding the mats. As I mentioned, I watched many videos that are available, I especially like The Papered Chef, and was able to follow the setup and begin putting my machine to use quickly. Without the help of videos my experience would have been different and frustration as the instructions provided were not clear to me. Luckily my machine has worked as expected and I have been very pleased with the fact that I can easily cut stamped images from cardstock and DSP; this has upped my card making enjoyment as not all stamp sets have coordinating dies. There is a huge learning curve to use the machine but available videos make it easier. I would purchase it again and recommend to others
