This ink for my printer arrived quickly and in good condition.
This cartridge caused all prints to have grayish smeared bands on them, giving a bad ‘xerox' look. I found an article online saying these were symptoms of a defective cartridge and to replace it. So i replaced it with another one from the printer's direct website and the problem was immediately remedied. It sucks I wasted so much money on a defective cartridge. My recommendation: only buy from an authorized source. This was a ripoff.
I have just put my fifth toner cartridge in our printer (light domestic adult use, ie: tax returns and plane tickets). We got 910,1007,894, 1001 and 897 pages respectively from the new and replacement cartridges so far. Works out to about 7 cents per page for toner ink, about a third of the twenty plus cents per page for inkjet systems and less hassle worrying about dried out or empty cartridges, a good trade for small inconvenience of black and white colours. Since we are getting about half the claimed capacity of 1600 pages claimed per TN630, (2600 per TN660) suspect there is a 2 year date expiry for the cartridges in the driver program somewhere. Sure is nice to be able to log into printer for maintenance history and calculate historic pages per toner cartrige (see photo). Cartridge mail in/recycle rebate process works well.
I bought a Brother black and white laser printer six years ago, after having spent a fortune on HP and Epson cartridges, for years. The printer does not miss a beat, and I get more value for the money in purchasing its yield toner, than what I was getting from purchasing the multiple cartridges required to operate other brands of printers.
This toner lasts forever. The only thing I don't like is that the old toner tells you it is running low and continues to work for another month. There is no indication that the ink is running out as everything printed is still dark. Then one day the printer just won't work anymore until you replace it with a new one. They are pre-programmed to stop working even though there is still plenty of ink in the old one. It wouldn't be so bad but these cartridges are very expensive. I think you should be able to use them until the ink gets too light to use anymore. That's not the case. There's more life for which you pay but you're forced to change to a new one. What choice do you have? None
