Brother XL-2600i Electric Sewing Machine

My wonderful Brother's Sewing Machine is broken and no one seems to be able to repair due to not being able to get the parts. I only have had the machine for a couple of years and really enjoyed it.

I purchased this machine nearly 8 years ago. I have used it consistently in the last 8 years as my only sewing machine. It is a workhorse. I love that it is mechanical, so I never have to worry about a motherboard breaking down. I have sewed a wide variety of quilts, baby blankets, clothes, and even a stuffed animal with this bargain. My ONLY complaint about this machine is that the throat is very narrow. I have to quilt on a friend's machine to have enough space. Even though I am thinking about upgrading to a larger machine, I'll hold on to this one. It's lightweight and perfect for taking to sewing classes and groups.

Maybe I'm not the best judge of machines since I've only ever owned one. But, I bought this when I was in 8th grade and now am 28. I've taken it apart a few times to clean it, repair it, and retrieve the spool holder (moving accident...twice). It's easy to understand mechanically if something bends or breaks. I love this thing. It's taken me through my lord of the rings costuming phase, first apartment curtains, mending my husbands clothes, belly dance costumes, soon to be baby clothes and everything between. I come from a Singer family, but I recommend brother to everyone.

THe machine is awesome- no issues at all... only problem I have encountered is the fact that my presser foot holder falls off the metal shank a lot. Have asked why- can't figure it out.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my daughter and she loves it. She has a 2 year old daughter and 3 1/2 year old son and is looking forward to many years making them very special clothes and costumes for Halloween and school plays.
