I thought all of these with handles had plastic handles. I'm ok with plastic handles as long as my kids aren't chewing on them, but these are perfect! Safe silicone handles and metal ends. The bumps make them easy to grip and they work great. I totally suggest these, and will look for these again when we need more.
It's a balancing act for toddlers to get their food from plate to mouth without it falling from the fork. That short distance between plate and mouth can sometimes seem like a long journey when toddlers are learning to secure pieces of food on their fork and hold it steady while making the trip to their mouth. The curved tines design of this fork helps toddlers keep that bite from falling while en route from plate to mouth. Stainless steel with silicone hand grips. These are approximately 5.5" long and the grip seems perfect for my toddler's hands. The silicone also feels nice and don't de surprised if your toddler wants to bite the handle. It's a great way to satisfy a toddler's biting urge without worrying about tooth damage. Dishwasher safe and BPA-free. Highly recommend.
We purchased these two months ago but have only used them a handful of times (I always forget we have them). Last night as my little one was eating, I glanced over and saw this- I would not recommend buying this product as it is dangerous and an obvious choking hazard.
These are really great to have! They are made with soft chewable silicone and designed to be easy to grab for babies. They keep our little one entertained while also teaching how to use utensils. And the choke guard makes them safe for little ones to use and puts my paranoid mommy mind at ease. We love these!
This fork and spoon set is super cute, but I have found to be less practical for my 10 month old to actually use. They are the tiniest set I have come across and I was curious. They are about 40% shorter than the other standard utensils on the market (pictured against 2 other brands). I make all of our baby's food (steam & puree, cube & steam, cooked foods, etc.), and did not find that these utensils actually hold the food very well, especially once you guide your infant's hand-to-mouth gesture. The bulkiness was not practical for our baby to fit this and the food into his mouth (and he is on the top end of height and head size for his age, he is not a petite baby and does not have small features). I do not recommend these for these uses: - stabbing cubed foods - this fork can't - teaching/guiding your infant's hand-to-mouth motion - the eating ends are bulkier than standard metal and hard plastic utensils, making it harder for baby to take the bite of food, and the handle is very short making it hard to help baby hold the utensil and then for you hold it to guide their hand - holding / balancing food on the utensil for actual eating - it's easier for baby to fling the food off of these than anything else - if your baby is more interested in actually eating food than chewing on a teether or playing during mealtimes I have found the Munchkin and Oxo utensil sets to work much better for our 10/11 month old, who wanted to dive right into actually feeding and eating the food by himself, which he's largely doing now. If you are really just looking for something for you baby to chew on and hold during mealtimes than actually practicing self-feeding, then this set will be fine for you. The quality is fine, and I have other Bumkins products that we really value and use regularly, but these utensils did not do the trick for our eager-to-self-feed baby. Every baby is different. I am expecting another child in about 4 months and will hold onto these to see how the new baby takes to them, and try them at a slightly earlier age.
