C2G 33in USB 2.0 to IDE or Serial ATA Drive Adapter Cable - storage controller - ATA / eSATA - USB 2.0

After having experienced the loss of a laptop motherboard, as well as an integrated power supply for an external hard drive, I looked for an economical way to recover thousands of priceless photos and personal documents from both hard drives. The USB IDE/Serial ATA Adapter was the perfect choice for my DIY approach. Within minutes, the proper drivers loaded up on my Windows 7 Pro OS. A few minutes later, all of the needed data contained on both hard drives was recovered. I must have saved a bundle of money "doing it my way".

I use this product in my business to connect drives from machines that won,t power up to retrieve data and to check HDD's. It works great for my purpose I don,t have to install it into a machine just plug in and go. The only thing I would change is the length of the USB cable to make it easier to use.

This is a great help in obtaining files from removed HD's. The connections are simple, works as hoped and does a great job. Very fast, very simple. The drive is always recognized. This is a fast effecient way to get data off removed drives. The on/off swich is a very nice touch. Wouldn't be without it.

I am using the adapter to connect my old dead computer's hard drives (IDE 120 Megs) to my new computer via USB. The adapter had worked well and has enabled me to recover all my data and to provide archives. Care must be taken not to let the old hard drive overheat when in use. Accordingly I turn on the adapter with the connected hard drive on a well ventilated location.
