[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used cabot stain on my home for years and have had good luck and will use it again the next time I stain my home
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our porch is in direct sunlight and we missed a couple years of staining it with a different brand of stain. The wood had gotten weathered, so we needed something to restore the wood and fill the places where the wood was cracked. The Australian Timberwood -Mahogany Flame was the perfect solution! It restored the look of the wood so we didn't have to replace the boards. We are so pleased with the results! The porch looks like new! We are going to use this stain on an old wooden swingset this spring, can't wait to see how it revitalized it!
I use Cabot Australian Timber Oil exclusively for sealing my outdoor teak furniture. It takes two days to dry, as to be expected and the finish lasts 10 years. We live in the PNW and it takes a beating. It's all in the preparation! My go to outdoor product!
If you are a DIY'er, you are responsible for the proper application of this product. Poor surface preparation is the number one cause of issues with any outdoor finish product. This is a good product. It is not the best nor the most expensive, but it is very good. Another thing to note is no finish lasts more than a few years, ever. This is something that must be reapplied every few years. The first coat may need reapplication after the first year. Remember proper surface preparation is key. So is proper application. There are three elements: Surface preparation, Product application, and Product quality. You are given a quality product, surface prep and product application are on you, the homeowner.
New deck built, with high quality pine for framing, western redwood posts, cedar for the flooring. I used Australian Timber Oil, and couldn't believe how easily it went on. We all know that no two pieces of lumber are the same. So I expected some deviations on how the wood would take the stain. I am old fashion so I used a good brush, waited two weeks, buffed the treated wood with steel wool, and applied a second coat. It looks like a million bucks. I would highly recommend this product. By the way, I'm near San Antonio with lots of sun and 100 plus degree days.
