Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 Flatbed Scanner

Haven't received it yet.

quick and easy to use, would like to be able to 'scan to printer' with it.

I've used Canon for 10 years on Mac, but after the new Ventura OS, trouble started. I reinstalled the driver and trouble would come back--it wouldn't communicate or would say that I hadn't chosen a compatible output like JPEG which I had... then I bought a new cable. Still trouble. I tried to new ports and it worked for a few days until it wouldn't work again. So I bought a new Canon lIde 400 and with a new cable, mine or theirs, it would communicate but after clicking Scan, the program would cycle through like it had scanned --in 1 second. But it did nothing. I called support and got a BOT-- and I had already signed up for MYCanon... but the BOT said I hadn't and my phone number was not found. Even though their site said it had been. Then I called back-- I got a human one out 5 tries and she put me right back to the BOT. It never said this, but apparently to get past the B-- I had to buy this new CAREPAK to get support! For something brand new that won't work!!! Forget this. Back to Epson.

Instructions aren't clear on how to obtain the maximum resolution that this scanner is supposed to support. Included software for "stitching" scan was disappointing. It only works to combine two images side by side you apparently can't combine top and bottom (like to scan a legal document - hello). Granted I can scan most legal documents in my other sheet feeder scanner but I was hoping to use this flatbed for some old and really fragile items. Noisy even on "quiet" setting but seems to work fine.

I like the size of the scanner... the hardware scans very nice images. However, the communications between the PC and the scanner seems to get lost once in awhile if you wait too long between scans. Restarting the application resolves the problem. Don't know if this is a hardware or a software issue. For the money... it can't be beat!
