Its a barbell it will hold more weight than i can lift it will work as long as you put weights on it and use it dont forget to buy spring clamps for it because it doesnt come with collars i moved up from my 5 foot bar with 3 feet from the inside clamp to clamp which was not good for benching on my rack now this upgrade to a 6 foot bar has 4 feet in the middle clamp to clamp and close to a foot on each side to add weight if your adding steel weight but if your adding plastic wont be enough plastic weights are just for beginners to see if they will continue on and if you do start investing in steel weights like i did i once started with plastic and eventually the cement slowly starts to come out so if your hooked on the plastic weights i recommend investing in some go zone grip weight plates there the most affordable good luck with your training results will come slow and steady consistency is the key
